mine is now done, however there is a funny story

I was having a shower at 9am in the downstairs shower room and I came out just wearing a towel.

My daughter (16 months) came in from the living room out to see me and I bellowed

    " hello gorgeous"

to which the sky installer popped his head around the living room door.

Very embarrasing. Especially as I was in a towel, dripping wet.

i did try and record onto my dvd recorder but it didnt record the sky channel it did another channel for some reason. thanks anyway guys

Your DVD recorder may have been tuned in to the wrong channel? You probably need to be tuned to an AV channel. Best bet is to get you TV to show the input from the DVDrecorder rather than Sky (via changing leads, SCARTs etc.). Once you are viewing on screen what your DVD recorder is transmitting, switch on to your Sky planner and make sure the menu shows on the TV (again you may need to messa round with leads from Sky to your recorder.

Bit of trial and error should get you there!!

I am about to get an HD tv and want to get the best offer as seen on here. Outside of quoting about phone calls etc, has anybody just phoned up and got a good deal?
What should i be saying to improve my chances of getting the best deal please.

bit of a dumb question,if u get free subs for a year...what happens after the year ends?,can you just not have the hd?,or do u have to pay the subs no matter what?

You can cancel the HD package and lose the HD channels, or pay £10pcm and keep them.

  • Finally got myself a Sky+HD box.
Phoned on Wednesday and the best offer I could get was free box, £30 installation and £10 a month HD package.

Phoned today and didn't get any better than that. Said I wasn't happy because other people including friends seemed to be getting much better offers. Asked to be put through to cancellations, spoke to a really nice guy who offered me the HD box for a one off charge of £29.

I know others have said on here that they got free HD for a year, but I'm very happy with this offer as I only have the basic package (and a normal box which is now 10 years old and still works fine!). And it's getting installed next Tuesday, which is great as my DVD recorder has just stopped recording!

Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread, it motivated me to get on the phone to them.:j

I did read elsewhere where people who were offered the free HD for 12 months were in fact being charged so people need to check their bills
