I got the ' it's a lottery' speech, so i went through to cancellations, and told the lovely lady i felt utterly devalued as a long standing customer..yadayadayada....and got the free box and installation. She helped me go through my package to see what i didnt really use, and as a result, i will now be paying slightly less than i was before, even with the hd subs
It pays to complain!

Hi, I hope this helps some people.

I told my brother about this post and he rang Sky and told them he had received the phone call earlier in the week and he now wanted to take them up on the offer.

They checked to see if he had been phoned and they confirmed he had (even though he hadn't)

They then said the offer had expired.

Luckily he just rang back and spoke to another operator who also said no it had expired so he rang again and this time the nice chap said yes it was fine to have it.

He got a free box, free installation and free sky hd for a year.

If they say no, just ring back and speak to someone else and eventually they will offer you it.

He had it installed on Thursday and he's very happy with it especially as it's free for a year.

Just had mine installed and have to say that I am impressed! Only sad thing is I can't watch what was left on my old box.

No idea, it was the earliest date they could get me when I rang. They were having problems with the installations on their computer system and were really apologetic about the length of time, but tbh I was just really happy to have got the deal that I didn't care. I'm in NI so don't know whether that made a difference.

have u thou of calling them back to reschedule? but i am scared they might pull off your offer

No I'm just going to wait it out - i'm so happy to have got the offer after so many peeps had trouble getting it that I don't want to rock the boat. I'll just have to learn some patience:rotfl:

A friend of mine who works for a car manufacturer said that at his work several people have been offered 3 months free by Sky or 50% off for 6 months. It started off being given under the counter to stop people leaving Sky as they were worried about redundancy. But as word got round in his company they pretty much agreed to offer it to anyone who said they work there. When you call in you need to ask for the 3 or 6 month option, quote 'nissan' and bingo - your next bill will be adjusted. The funny thing is Sky can't tell if you actually work there and I was told that lots of family and friends etc are getting in on this!:eek:

I wouldn't recommend you do this and I'm not sure you'll have any luck if you've just got an HD upgrade out of them but who knows?

Why can't you just plug your old box back into your TV to watch the recordings you have?
