Sell by dates are just there as a guide - do you think the cows put a "best before" on when they produce?

Im with you on the sell by dates hypno. My oh has a nasty habit of looking for the date on everything in the b****y fridge!! If it smells ok chances are it IS ok. Hope youre sleeping better despite losing the hour.

One of the other parents has very kindly taken DS to the football match, which gives me my morning back, and saves me about £10 in petrol, so I am very grateful. I offered petrol money, but they refused, so I will be happy to return the favour.

I'll do a bit of pottering instead this morning

What adventurous use by dates! OTOH, when its stuff that I'm going to cook, I don't care. I even commit one of the worst food crimes - when I cook a meal that contains frozen food, I stick the leftovers in the fridge and use them the next day

I was told by a food technologist that was rubbish KC, as long as you're not doing it with previously cooked food you've cooked again (e.g. roast lamb that you then froze then used as shepherds pie - that shouldn't be reheated again).
