Oh my gosh, just look at that signature! How far you have come since we first 'met' on these boards. I am really chuffed for you (and a tincey bit jealous). That is very well deserved.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I am slogging too, but obviously not hard enough! I am tonight listing six bags of books cadged from the local library. Every little helps... but I could do with something bigger!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

I have to say that it is my salary that gets me through nowadays - compared with the self employed days of a few years ago, it makes so much difference to my debtbusting. I would hate to think where I would be if I had kept bumbling along as I was before....so I am more than grateful for being in the job I am, especially now there is only my salary coming in.
Dare I ask how OH is getting on with jobhunting?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
My salary isn't enough to cover our outgoings unfortunately, so we're doing rather worse than in my bumbling days, except that there will be no big tax bills. OH is doing a paper round, gardening for two neighbours and regular van driving, so is definitely making more effort than at one time. but the proper job continues to elude him, or maybe he continues to evade it.
He saw someone today about a delivery job but it was dependent on having our own car - and ours is currently illegal to drive as the exhaust is gone. So of course that was an excuse to opt out of the job rather than an incentive to fix the car. Oh well, I have accepted for a long time that it's all down to me to get us out of this hole.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Well, at least he is doing something, which as you say is more than he has done at some points in the past. It is hard, though, when the responsibility is still almost all down to you and you have to carry him as well as the children.
Are you in full throes of GCSEs in your household? Thankfully DD is not getting too stressed, although I think that is partly because her idea of revising, and mine are somewhat different, but I am determined to let her do it her way, then any mistakes are hers, and of course any glory will be hers too! With everything else that is happening in our lives right now, I am just grateful that she is happy and hopefully doing enough to get the grades for the A levels she wants.

Snap - they girls get stressed immediately before exams, but in the days between forget all about them and spend all their time on Facebook or hanging out with their friends. I have the same attitude as you - let them do it their own way, anything else would only lead to conflict and be completely unproductive!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620
