Problems with redeeming Thorntons Melts vouchers

had no problem collecting mine in bakewell. don't think the cashier had seen one of the vouchers before as he was studying it when i left but he was very nice and called me by name and told me to enjoy them

I had that email (i had won 3 times) so i replied that i wasnt able to redeem them (or the egg for referring a friend) because i do not have a printer, so wasnt able to print out the vouchers, and how when running these promotions, it would be nice to know they needed to be printed!

Will be interesting if they reply to me.

Was lucky enough to win too. I also got that email, I won the 1st time and after reading the vouchers' T&C's I was under impression you couldn't claim another box so deleted the following 2 winning emails (different days)! Could have had 3 boxes (which would have sorted Easter pressies out!) but didn't print the vouchers! I've commented that in my reply so we'll see if they actually read them eh Catowen!
This definately has been a popular comp with MSE'ers! Had no problem getting our box of chocs and the young girl serving was very helpful and knew all about them (although wasn't sure how to put them through on the till!).

Fair play to them (well ok, head office anyway!) for recognising there's a problem, and trying to fix it!

Went into one of the Reading stores yesterday, with 3 vouchers to collect on.....I wouldn't say the woman was outright rude (especially compared to what some of you guys have had! ), but she definitely wasn't friendly....

She stuck to scowling at me and tutting instead of outright accusations though.....and she kept peering at the vouchers to check if I was a fraudster trying it on.......

I explained about how you could win more than one box, and that they all had different dates / codes on, and offered to show her my id but she just ignored me!!

Ah well, got my chocolates - and they're yummy, well worth the win

I commented earlier in the week with regard to problems, just collecting one box, it was a card and gift shop that also sold Thorntons and had Thorntons on their shop sign, was led to feel that I was trying to defraud them. I went into Preston town centre, St Johns arcade and a lovely man, let me have the two boxes that I had won with no problems whatsoever, he was brill, also, gave me his email to forward details from this forum. Can honestly say, lovely man, will do all my Thorntons shopping there in future. Has restored my faith!

I won two of the vouchers but until I got the folow up email I thought Thorntons had made a mistake and sent it twice....but I'd kept the email so was able to print them both out. I played safe and used two different branches in Nottingham - the first shop tried to fob me off with the little pack of three until I pointed out it was for the bigger box, but they were really nice and seemed pleased for me! They didn't ask for ID but the second branch I went to did, looked like they'd seen the voucher before, the staff there were really nice too, so full marks to Nottingham Thorntons!

I posted on here the other day but my thread's disappeared - anyway i got an email from thorntons apologising for the mix up and asking for my thoughts to which i replied - i then got a reponse stating that shop staff were only following instructions from head office and they apologised and asked for my address to send me another box of melts.
JUST HOW WRONG CAN THEY GET IT???? They arrived today but they'd sent them to my neighbours address who met me as i arrived home with a very disapproving look and now thinks i'm ordering things against her address :-(!!!!

Guess theyve had a lot of complaints

I got that email and then i replied saying id had problems and have recieved this a few days ago.


Just had a reply from the manager.

I'm really sorry that you weren't able to redeem your 2nd box in store. The last thing we want to do is to leave our customers feeling embarrassed for trying to collect something that they have legitimately won.
To help put this right I'd like to send you either a box of 200g Melts or a £5 Gift Voucher through the post. Please let me know which you'd prefer and I'll get it straight out to you.

I received my box from head office within a couple of days - just to let you know the box that its delivered in is quite big compared to the box of chocs so don't get too excited!!
