Baby steps to being mortgage free

Well payday is almost here, working away again next week so thought I would do my update now.
At the end of the month the OD is £1300, it has gone up by £50 this month but not to bad considering I have cleared my personal & joint CC.
The only CC I have now is a 0% baclaycard which I am planning to use to stooze some cash, help pay off the other debts quicker and have saved the money ready to clear it by August next year. So from now on I will show the saving balance & the 0% CC balance to reflect my net position.
In other news as I’ve already said the OH has been staying in our house, and I’ve been staying at my parents until he has found somewhere else to live. This means that he owes me the money for the house for the month (£800). This will reduce the OD to £500, this should mean that this should be cleared by the end of the month.:T:T This will involve using the 0% card for part of it, but will finally mean that I have no interest bearing debt (other than the mortgage!!!). I can’t believe the end is in sight (although I do understand that using the 0% card has meant I’ve cheated a little bit).
The money I have saved from not having paid housing costs for the month will mean that I will have some money to do some of the bits I need to on the house (for example I will need a new TV when the OH goes!, want to give the hall a lick of paint!!).
So from the end of this month let the savings begin, I can’t wait to see the savings account balance build up. This will be the first time in my life I have ever really had an savings and am so glad I will finally be able to do things the right way around!!

Thanks begining to feel more positive about things, I really think taking control of the finances has really helped. It is really nice to know that from the end of this month, no more debt and all the extra work i'm doing managing money will actually be going in the mortgage pot rather than the pay off debt pot!!Mortgage @ 01.06.10 £165,999Mortgage @ 31.10.13 £14,6640 -
Evening all,
well after having such positive posts last week, this week is the complete opposite. I'm sat here feeling very depressed, lonely and down.
I think this is due to a number of things, the first being it was my birthday on Friday. I had a lovely day and got totally spoilt by friends and family but it just really made me miss OH. I went shopping yesterday and may have had a small slip up and come homw with a number of items i do not need but wanted!!
Add to this a night out last night and it has turned into a very expensive weekend.
So I'm now sat here, hugover, tired and trying to work out how to get the money situation back on track for the month. So all in all a very depressed baby steps is watching x-factor feeling a little sorry for herself!Mortgage @ 01.06.10 £165,999Mortgage @ 31.10.13 £14,6640 -
Don't feel bad hon, it's natural to feel low from time to time & retail therapy is the accepted cure
. Could you take any of the things back? If not, enjoy them - otherwise that really WOULD be a waste of money
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

You are doing really well - don't beat yourself up over a little slip. I agree that you should just enjoy the goodies and get back on track tomorrow. First birthday without OH was always going to be hard.
Have a really good week,
SquirrelPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Thanks guys,
To be fair the slip was in primark (so got a lot for my money), and it may have been a lot for there but could have been worse. I am going to take a couple of bits back and the rest i'm just going to enjoy.
Plus just been through all the finances and its not as bad as I thought. As long as I do NO more shopping this month and am careful with my spends I should actually be OK with money for the rest of the month and still finish in budget so thats good:T:TMortgage @ 01.06.10 £165,999Mortgage @ 31.10.13 £14,6640 -
Right, my project is to aim to have more NSD's. I don't do enough and spend little driba and drabs on silly things.
This month before pay day I am aiming for 8 days this month. This should help with keeping me to budget.
The good news is - one done:j:j:j
Knowing what i'm like though I just have to make sure I don't just do all my spending on certain days rather than spreading it through a week!!!Mortgage @ 01.06.10 £165,999Mortgage @ 31.10.13 £14,6640 -
Hey Baby Steps
sorry youve been feeling low ( I think a bit of primani retail therapy is fine given the circumstances! :rotfl:)
