Sorry to hear your news hon. You need to look after yourself for a little while so have some fun if you can :)

I think it's no harm to be out-and-about and not dwelling on things at the moment.

And as for the tumble dryer, when the weather is bad, sometimes it's a necessity. Just so long as your clothes horse is working as hard, you'll be fine! ;)

  • Hello there,

Sorry to hear your news, that must be very difficult for you. I've been managing my mortgage myself for years now without a permanent OH... yes, it takes more budgeting, but is possible and the achievement's all your own! ;)

Stay with us and hang on in there,

  • Yay, I recieved an £80 qudico payment today rom switching my energy suppliers earlier in the year. I'm just glad it has finally paid out!!

On the not so good side I have had to buy a new laptop. I don't actually own a laptop, this belonged to OH so I have had to buy one. I managed to get a really good one for £500 but that means that this has gone on the CC:eek::eek: (hangs head in shame). It was a necessity howevere and I did shop around to get a good deal. I have a feeling there may be a few mmore things I need to replace OH's stuff so an expensive few months ahead. At least I have that £80 towards it now:rotfl::rotfl:

On the plus side at the end of another month another £250 paid off the overdraft.

I have also decided to stop the xmas savings as things will be tight for the next couple of months. I have put in an extra £20 to round this up to £250 and I think I have enough to cover the presents I need to buy as no longer buying for OH:D

I'm off to see the mortgage company today to try and sort out the mortgage situation. Oh what fun!!!

Think of the new laptop as an investment :) and all the fun you'll have creating new speadsheets :D

£250 is a good budget for Xmas, mine is £300 and I'm hoping I won't spend it all as I'm planing a lot of homemade gits this year.

Good luck with the mortgage company.
Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck :)

Thats a good idea, maybe I should look into getting one to do some of the house bits I need to do the next couple of months. That way I can save to pay it off instead.

Appointment with the mortgage company went well and the mortage will be transferred to int only as of the 1st Sept. This means that payments reduce to £471!!!

This is easily affordable, even with saving £350 a month to make up the capital element. The question is now, do I get someone in to rent a room off me?

I have had no experience of letting a room and not sure how I feel about having a stranger in my house. Has anyone had experience of letting a room? How did you find it? Any opinions would be appreciated so I can make a decision on this.

I guess it depends on how territorial you are, and also the lodger. If it's not desperate for you to get a lodger, don't jump into it and take your time: perhaps after splitting with OH, getting someone else to move in full-time might not be the best thing for you at the minute. x

I have a little bit of OCD about cleanliness!!! I was thinking I could possibly advertise the room and see who comes along. That way I could just see who turns up and if I don't like anyone I don't need to go through with it. I'm lucky I have the luxury of being able to wait for the right person.
