Does Anyone Volunteer for their Local CAB?

I have found my local one to be extremely slow in responding both when I registered online and then when I emailed asking a question about the training dates. I couldnt be included in the intake as at the moment I only work on a Monday, and all the training dates were on a Monday meaning I couldnt do it. Have registered for the next intake now, approx October.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I know they're really busy dealing with problems all day but I don't think there's any excuse for not replying to people who are offering to help them. Good luck for October0

Hi
I work for the CAB and their technology is so far behind that many workers don't have email or if they have, have only one pc where they can access it. Many workers do a full time job and have no admin support so its added to the to do list. Its no excuse and in our area, we'd fall over ourselves to get you onboard.
We are getting there slowly on a technical front but alot of it is to do with funding and we have to make do with what we've got. We'd love to access to Bill Gates and get anything we needed but in the real world if its a case of being on email or helping a client in debt, the client wins every time. The Cabbage

I always get the answering email job and I often see requests for volunteering emails, which I print off and give to the training co-ordinator. We get clients that also email problems which I prefer to do as it makes typing up case easier as we can cut and paste the email0

we've shied away from giving email advice but its on the cards for the future. We have just embraced a virtual call centre, and offer advice over the phone 5 days a week and that's enough to be going on with for now lol!
We do get requests for advice by email but he have to check that they are within area and then direct them to the phone no. If there's no other way to give them advice and they are in area, we will do so by email but its not frequent. We often send info to clients by email if we are attaching excerpts from Advisernet, confirming appointments etc.
yes emails can help with inputting on case, I agree. The Cabbage
