I got 3 8packs for 49p and an AAA pack (4).. :) Bargainous! I might get some more next time I'm in if the 8 packs are still included.

I didn't see the 8 pack of AA neither, may need another visit !!
the 8xaa is not part of the planogram, so may not be on display, but ALL STORES SHOULD HAVE SOME IN THE WAREHOUSE!
  • I did say I had been cheeky! The last time batteries in Superdrug were on offer they still went through on the previous BOGOF offer, so I simply thought it was worth seeing if they went through the till. Having suffered similar sorts of complaints and threats of being reported to Trading Standards for incorrect POS whilst I was a Customer Service Manager at Tesco, I feel it's time to do the same as a consumer! Strictly speaking they are in the wrong (there was no obvious 2 for £2.99 indication on the POS I saw - must have been smaller writing!) and that is the way that Trading Standards would see it - plus they'd fine them for every piece of fallacious POS...so there you have it - I hadn't actually done anything wrong and at the end of the day I left the store without too much complaint and accepted what she told me - I'm a reasonable person (unlike yourself - banning people for pointing out legitimate mistakes!!??)...:rotfl:

    Thanks for the tip off
you haven't done anything wrong, you are just annoying!

Hi Managed to get alot of Batteries today including the 8 pack of AA Batteries, i asked the youmg man on the till are these on offer ?, he scanned them and said yes, there were no 49p tickets at all on any of the batteries so no-one was really getting to know about the offer there was only one poster in the window tucked in a corner, I got a weird luck of a Shop Assistant when i bought 10 packs, i think she might have been gutted as had slipped up with the offer.

    Thanks Superboy once again.

worth noting that Savers ( owned by Superdrug) sell ... all the time .....their own range of alkalines at 59p to 79p

Didnt know they were the same company, amazing because Savers is always much much cheaper, never bought any toiletries in Superdrug for yeats.

Savers started as a privately owned company in Darlington ? years ago ... brilliant operation as we all know. Massively successful .

They sold out to the Hong Kong company that owns Superdrug some ? 5? years ago.

It was decided to leave them trading as they were ... although i know they have increased their margins a lot over the last few years partly as they buy cheaper being part of a bigger companyt but also their ongoing prices levels are nothing like as low as they used to be.

Still philosophy though, nice clean , bright , well filled stores with a long term range and "everyday low prices"

However there is the case now that the supermarkets .. and superdrug.. boots ...wilko etc are doing more and more bogof deals .. which will nearly always then be cheaper than Savers .

Savers do have some long term unbeatables though ... see the 750ml clean n fresh thick bleach at 39P ..... oil of olay wipes at £2.99 .... scrunchy bath things at 39p ... gillette foamy 99p etc etc.

And their battery range ...alkalines 59p to 79p .. they're branded "Hi NRG " ..
"specially packed for" .... the various worldwide companies that their owners have ... inc "savers Ltd".. in other words one range that does for thousands of their store worldwide .

I'd put a bet on that it's exactly the same supplier and product that is supplying the Superdrug product .. normally sold at over £2 a pack !! .. on which they make a fortune !! Reckon that they're just trying to move big volumes of stock .
Well dated though ...up to 2010.

For all the normal toiletry and household stuff stuff we just check out and buy things that we use that are on bogof in the supermarkets .. or boots etc .... in the very unlikely case that someones not doing a product that we need that day ... buy then at Savers as their ongoing price undoubtedly is
    cheapest.

Maybe you can tell i'm in that trade !!

i bought assorted 25 packs of 49p superdrug batteries yesterday ... at my local store ... inc the 8 pack AA..
Out of curiousity popped into 2 other ... larger superdrug stores ... no bulk displays ... no price signs ... but when i picked packs off the normal display hooks and took them to the checkout and asked about the price .. they bought said words to the effect " 49p but we're not shouting about it " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my younger day as a retailer i'd have been fired for not having that offer piled to the roof !!

    Everybody .. buy with confidence .. it's a belter !! Real moneysaver
