I'll never buy from Comet again - health warning

I am not sure what he got out of this apart from having to buy a new machine after burning his own.
He actually let Comet of the hook by doing it as well !"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."
Bertrand Russell. British author, mathematician, & philosopher (1872 - 1970)0 -
I always find the "poor customer service" mob bring it on themselves. I just don't get how everything I buy never breaks, how I never have any problems when buying stuff whilst some people just seem to have that happen all the time. I'm sure it's their attitude must attract bad luck or something, how else do they manage it?
Touch wood now you've said that, it's sod's law that the minute you say that it will happen to you!Everyone I know wants to be a millionaire.
Not me, I want to be a billionaire.0 -

Us: I'd like a refund please as this is only 7 months old and is faulty
Sales manager: we can't do anything about that, you'll have to call Samsung
Us: But you're the retailer, we bought it from you
(a bit later)
SM: Alright, we'll take it for you and we'll call Samsung. You might get it repaired or you might get it replaced
Us: I don't trust the product any more, I'd like my money back. And I don't trust your repair process as you tried and failed to repair my microwave last year, so what hope is there for my laptop?
(a lot, lot later)
(upgrade to) Store manager: You've got two options: either take the netbook away with you or we'll contact Samsung for you. Or if you won't leave the store I'll have to call the police.
Now neither I nor Mrs C have ever experienced a customer service conversation that ended with "I'll call the police." Absolutely gobsmacking after what we thought was a level-headed conversation. What a stunning finale!
Clearly instant profit is more important to this organisation than customer satisfaction or lifetime customer value. And we were late for our restaurant booking.
So, a health warning from us: don't buy anything from Comet as the "guarantee" isn't worth the paper it's written on. I'm off to John Lewis next time!!
Now, to the question - can I demand a refund or do they have me by the short and curlies?
Hi chalytitch,
My name is Andy and I’m from Comet.
It was disappointing to read that you were unhappy with the service you received in one of our stores regarding your faulty netbook. Even if a customer is unhappy with our procedures, we would expect them to be treated with the utmost of courtesy at all times and I am sorry that you felt this was not the case.
Although I don’t have your personal details, where possible and if it can be completed within a reasonable amount of time, we will look at completing a repair. Normally with Samsung netbooks they would complete a diagnostic on our behalf over the phone and arrange a repair should the fault be hardware related.
It is always recommended that these diagnostics are performed in the environment which the product would normally be used, in this instance your home, as this will provide a more accurate analysis of your system and set-up, therefore allowing the engineer to diagnose the problem to better effect.
If you decided that you did not want to contact Samsung yourself or were unable to do so, then the store are able to take ownership of the issue, and in rare instances it may be possible for the store to carry out the diagnostics on your behalf, but this is not always the case as very few stores have the relevant facilities to do so.
As I would like to investigate the issues you have mentioned in your post further, so please could you send me an email using the link below.

We also had a bad experience with the Comet of Old Kent Road London.
We purchased a Hoover vacuum cleaner that broke after only 4 months. We went to Comet who told us to call the Hoover number, get an authorisation and come back again.
When we rang Hoover they were utterly puzzled because, they said, Comet could have made that phone call and saved us a trip.
We went back today and were told they would have to reconfirm the authorisation number and because Hoover were closed, we would have to go back on Tuesday.
The customer service assistant was rude, unhelpful, uninterested. She did not even suggest us to leave the hoover there, so they could make the phone call and ring us to go and collect the money on Tuesday.
We told her quite clearly we will not ever buy at Comet again, but she clearly wasn't interested.
I will advise all my mates to stay well clear of Comet, at least the Old Kent Road one!:mad::mad:0
