    customer expectations.

There's also difference between "customer expectations" and "reasonable expectations".

Unfortunately, many seem to think that the former means "shop should give in to whatever customer demands".

Whatever happened to "the customer is always right"? :T

SM: Alright, we'll take it for you and we'll call Samsung. You might get it repaired or you might get it replaced

Were there long periods of silence during the conversation, where one of you tap danced or something?

My learn here - there is a difference between consumer rights and customer expectations. I guess I'd come to expect that the service I get from some other stores is the benchmark to follow.
Which store did you get a full refund after 7 months use? I know John Lewis certainly don't offer that - you seem to be singing their prasies.

And, in what way will my health be effected if I go into Comet? Maybe I will choke from dust particles not picked up by the vacuum cleaner???

It is possible. We had a full refund for a 13-month old Nintendo DS from Tesco, and a 23-month old netbook from Tesco. No questions asked. I have to say I was very surprised, though. And I certainly would never expect it.

It went out of the window with rationalism and when the "ow do you expect me to no that" culture came in.

Comet's! just search the forum and read what customers think, I for one would only go into their stores to get out of the rain.

And for the record Jamespir, neither I nor Mrs C (nor the staff) were abusive to eachother in any way. It was all done in an even-keeled manner, no voices raised. That's why I was so amazed that he even mentioned the police.

This happened to me recently! I think CS staff struggle to tell the difference between clear, concise complaint and yelling!
