    Morning All

Happy Birthday Snoozer Have a a lovely day

Big ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) and best wishes to those who need them today.

Weigh in last night and managed to lose 1/2 pound, oh well better than nothing and has set me on the right road, also a friend there gave me a really good tip. She turns her points for the day into pennies, puts them in a tin and basically puts them into another tin as she uses them for food so going to try that this week:T

Really annoyed when I got in last night. Had pulled a HM chilli out of the freezer so people could grab their own, huge pot I might add, when I got home not a scrap left and some people had had seconds grrr:mad: so stomped about a bit and settled for a tin of tuna on pitta and salad!

Big black cloud over us money wise at the minute, things are really tough. Even talked about selling the house and clearing the debt:( love my house but think the relief and fresh start might be worth it

Anyway trying to be positive. My DB and SIL are coming for tea tomorrow so will bake a Bakewell Tart this afternoon as it is their favourite, possibly a lemon drizzle cake as well as I have some lemons that need using up

Weather is a bit dull here so don't think washing will dry outside maybe this afternoon.

Tea will be lamb chops as I have found several lots in the bottom of the freezer possibly with cauliflower cheese. (stir fry for me)

Have a lovely day everyone x

i am abroad at the moment and all this talk of festivities is making me feel homesick!-i think spring time is magical in the uk and i envy you all-the sun hardly ceases to shine here but i miss the true britishness about talking about the improved weather after surviving the British winter -samey-ness can make life dull!!!

Hi, I did manage to get away for the weekend:j. I had a lovely time, it was with my quilting group, we went to Kielder and stayed in nice log cabins. We spend the whole weekend eating and sewing! It was especially nice this time as one of the ladies was celebrating her 80th birthday, so we had lots of champagne and birthday cake and we gave her the surprise quilt we had made.

On Monday I went and helped at school, which was fun, the kids were learning about electrical circuits. Most of them were so enthusiastic, and full of questions. I did discover that DS1 is actively trying to find questions that his teacher can't answer and has to look up the answer on the internet! It's nice to know that he doesn't just do it to me!

I'm now back trying to sort out our attic and get stuff ready to sell at our local NCT sale. They have new rules from last time so it is a little more complicated. You are no longer allowed to sell sleep-suits, bodysuits or pajamas, fortunately I don't have many of them.

I'd better get back to work, HUGS to all that need them

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I'm having a very quiet day because I'm feeling better again so I don't want to give myself another set back.

I just have to rearrange the freezer to fit some things in but that will be the extent of OSiness, DH is taking me out for a swanky meal tonight, to the place we missed going to on our 30th anniversary when mum was rushed into hospital.

Smokey, I hope today isn't too difficult for you and your little ones.

Lowesy, well done to your DH.

Morning all :) Hope you are all well.

    happy birthday snoozer :)
    ((hug)) for smoky and family

I now have five fruit cakes sitting on my table that I don't want to finish icing. I can't lift the large one - it weighs (I think) over eight kilos. The caterers (I've taken to buying the boards wholesale these days) were supposed to be sending the display boards, but they didn't tell me they'd been dispatched, so I missed the courier. I am most annoyed as now I have to have friday off to wait in for the next delivery. Irritatingly, I can't collect from the depot as it is Newbury - which is quite a trek from Oxford when you don't drive. I can work from home though, which is okay I guess, just a bit of a pain.

I made wholemeal apple muffins yesterday - OH insisted on helping me, mainly because the reciepe needed translating - which was quite funny as he gets a bit phased when the reciepe calls for something we don't have and I just chuck in a subsitute without thinking. I find German cookbooks hilarious, they are always so detailed - OH (who is German himself) always jokes that you would have to tell a German to stop when to stop stirring the mixture as they would just carry on otherwise. I have another three I bought back this time; one is totally devoted to the art of apple cakes, one is a cheesecake book and the other is a streuselkuchen book (not sure we have an equivalent here - they are predominantly yeast based cakes that tend to have a sweet crumble topping on the surface) - I really like them, so it I was quite pleased to find a cookbook with some nice ones in.

I have a conference call later which I am looking forward with the same level of enthusiam I normally reserve for having teeth extracted. *sigh* I am working on some way of displaying sets of buttons (we have a button swap on my other forum) and a have to build something cat shaped with echos of ancient egypt in it. Not sure where to start with that, and it has to be small/light enough to post to the US too.

huge hugs for those that need them today, have a good day all, cel x

    Afternoon everyone.

Feeling very sad as my mum is having one of her dogs put to sleep within the next hour. They had her as a puppy when I was still living at home, in fact I spent her first few nights with us sleeping in the kitchen with her :( when I've packed the kids off I think I will probably have a good cry and get it out of my system. It's the kindest thing for her but I shall miss her.

Anyway kids have made Irish flags for St Patricks Day and we've sown some lettuce. Spent yesterday afternoon in garden sowing some spring onion and carrot seeds. Need to dust off the propogator and start sowing the other stuff this weekend too if I get chance.

Tea tonight will be a makeshift so something on toast or a jacket spud. Having left overs for lunch in a minute.

Snoozer - Happy birthday hope you have a great day

Smoky - Hugs to you and the kids xx

Haribo - nice to see you popping back. Hope everything is going OK.

Julie - hugs re your black cloud xx

Sorry if I've missed anyone. Hugs to those that need them.

  • Afternoon:)

Not been on for a bit. DS a bit hyped up at the moment and very busy;).
He has doing a lot of echolalia at the moment and is driving me nuts. This is basically repeating over and over things like adverts and film scripts:o.As he is listening to Galaxy radio a lot a favourite advert seems to be " The IUD works well for me but there are lots of other options, talk to your doctor or nurse about contraception....it`s worth talking about"!:o:p all in a loud voice which is embarrassing when walking him to school etc. He is very annoyed at the mo as his fave DJ james barr is off for the week...he keeps demanding I ring him at home to find out why he is off:eek:.
DS bringing a friend home to have snack and play Wii later for an hour. I will see how it goes but his track record at having people in the house isnt good:o
Have made some cookies for them. Had MrS delivery today.....2 weeks worth again. Am having to stretch the money again as OH has been off work a few days this month with migraine:cool:.
A friend of mines daughter is just being diagnosed with Retts syndrome, she has an MRI to have but they are fairly sure thats what it is so she is devastated. Took her some flowers in on Mon when we were on shift tgether and have tried to find info out to help and support:(
    MSD hope you are ok
Bitsy have a cry for the dog, it is only natural you feel like that:(
    Happy Birthday Snoozer:T
Best go and do our accounts for next month, see if we can scratch together the money for OH gas registration he only told me last week was due at end of this month(£200):mad:

    Hi all,
Been having a really good tidy round as my friend is coming tonight to pick up a 50th birthday pressie for her OH.They are being away for the actual day, renting a biggish place in the Lakes for a few days, and have asked quite a few people to go and stay, but we can't really afford it ,and the dog would have to go to kennels as DSsons are out too much at the weekend. It would have been lovely, but we are still recovering from the expensive car & van repairs from last month.

I have got a spag bol base from the freezer for tea,so it will be quick once she's gone.
My shoulders are aching today, combination of heavy shopping bags, and some gardening yesterday, just tidying really in the front.I should do the back now,and it looks sunny so may do.

I got some fabric yesterday off the market to make some Union Jack cushions.I saw some in TKMax-£15 for a small,£30 for a larger one :eek:My material cost £3 :)
They are to go in DH's old classic car, ready for the new season of rallies and shows. What I did see that we would buy is an old fashioned wicker picnic basket,we've been fancying one for ages, kept looking out last year at the classic car shows but didnt see any (or they were manky!).We might go and get one at the weekend,as he will be wanting to go out for a run at the weekend to check everythings ok to go longer distances.

Happy Birthday Snoozer, glad you are feeling brighter.
    (((Hugs))) Smokybabe & family,
    A hug to you too,Bitsy, & Diva.Take care all.x

It's the first time I have posted on Old Style so I have now lost my OS virginity! lol! I will have been living in my first house for 3 weeks tomorrow. It's the first time I have ever lived away from home. My boyfriend and I have bought our house together. I am trying to be as frugal as possible and cook everything from scratch but our grocery bill was £80 last week and £100 the week before. In fairness it has included things like washing powder, toilet roll, rugs, knives, bin liners and things that we are buying for the frist time but I think I might be going wrong somewhere.

I am discovering the delights of cooking, having been banned from my kitchen at my Mum's house. So far I have successfully made turkey burgers, a sheppards pie and pasta with tomato sauce all from scratch!! I am very proud, I make double of everything so it does us for two days.

I only have interent connection at work at the mo and will be anohter 3 weeks before we are connected at home, so can only get on her sporadically but wanted to say hi to everyone, this looks like a really friendly place :j
Hmmm will add up debt and stick on on later!
