Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 17th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning.
I guess it's means little for most of us. The Americans make a big deal about it, and more cards to send to each other...

Day off for me, so I shall do some jobs about the house as per usual. Clean out hens, work on my boat...... I wish I had something more exciting planned.

Have great day everyone happy-st-patricks-day.jpg

Good morning all, and to all our Irish friends have a great day today. The sun is doing it's spectacular bit over the river at the moment, and it looks like its going to be another lovely day.I have a busy one today as after the school run I have my friend and her husband coming down from Dartford and he is going to erect my new computer desk and bookcase for me .I am really looking forward to it being done as it has sat in its packing at the top of my stairs for several weeks.Plus of course it will finish off my room nicely after all our hard work decluttering all the old junk from there.
I hope everyone has a great day and what ever you do enjoy it.
Take care must fly lots to do this morning
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Morning peeps

Not sure about the weather yet today but its lovely not having to scrape the car in the morning, for the first night in ages the washing machine hasn`t been on as i`ve not got a full load. Very strange as this rarely happens in this house.

Yesterday afternoon i drilled lots of holes :D holes in the house wall to hang a bracket for the hose pipe and holes in lots of pots and tubs to plant up lots of herbs and things that only need small areas to grow. Later i shall sow some seeds in the pots as they are now full of compost mixed with vermiculite just waiting for me to finish them off.

I dragged myself up the garden after a busy afternoon and was about to take my boots off and hop in the shower but decided to water the new compost to dampen it down a little. This is where the afternoon turned bad, our isolation valve is behind the washing machine so i moved it out just enough to reach the valve behind it, as soon as i opened the valve the pipe burst and i got a face full of water  good job the worktop is missing, the blooming kitchen floor was covered in water and it was shooting up the walls as i struggled to move the washer further away from the wall to get to the main stopcock. I made a quick Call to someone who arrived half an hour later that can fix just about anything and half an hour after that the water was back on and everything was fixed thank goodness!

I`m beginning to wonder if its this house thats jinxed or us. Hopefully today will be uneventful, my back is still killing me from all the bending down in the garden so i`ll probably end up in a back brace today :rotfl:

Sunnygirl - Thanks for the info about the mayo in frozen sandwiches, i`ll definitely be trying it now.

Happy St Patricks day to everyone celebrating.

Offski to do some w*rk now.

Catch you all later and don`t forget to enjoy your days.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

This day always reminds me of my 20s when my friends from a local football team i played for all made our way to cheltenham for 'the İrish'festival -it seemed to mark the beginning of spring and the 'rash' of good sporting events--The National and the 5 nations rugby--i wonder where my carefree days went(and also all those guys!)-i do think youth is wasted on the young!!!

Diva Massive hugs to you honey xxx

Sunnyday What a day!!!!! Hope today is more uneventful & you don't end up in a back brace xx

HSirish.gif Happy St Patricks Day to those who celebrate it!

Up doing the usual tidying, washing etc this morning. The weather isn't looking as promising as it did yesterday so I don't think I'll peg all the washing out.

Lunch is sandwiches for me and some leftover pizza for DH and tea is the chicken sweet & sour that was put off yesterday.

Ironing tonight I'm finding it so much easier to do half an hour every other day it never builds up.

Have a good day all whatever you are doing xxx

    Morning :hello:

    Happy Birthday Snoozer :bdaycake: :D

Thanks for the birthday wishes :kiss:Diva, my name has always been on the list :grin: I had smellies, choc, perfume, a bottle of port (errrrrm, why? lol) but my fave pressie this year is a pair of shiny wellies - black with pink flowers :D They're fab.

Not much going on here lately, just the usual animal cleaning, feeding, madness :D The chicks don't need their heat lamp anymore. We're getting an egg per day from each of the chickens. The guinea pigs run around like loons. The rabbit thinks she's in charge of everything - if the piggies are too noisy, she tells them off by nudging them with her nose :D

I didn't even get a card from master tru for sunday or monday, then he asks me if he can borrow a tenner til payday  I said no, in a not very polite way. On the other hand, Miss tru was fab. When it comes to manners, I've had to drag myself down to their level, they don't (want to?) understand 'normal' speak. It's working on her, not on him. Yesterday, I took great delight in sorting all the washing up into ours, his and hers piles and only doing ours :rotfl: They both did their own without complaining

Redruby, I'm going to sort through all my pics and send you a good one of Ruby :D

I've accidentally found a money-maker :D We buy our corn, chicken feed and bird seed from a supplier down the road. I didn't realise how much more expensive bird seed is in pet shops, til someone asked if they could buy some from me. They save a bit, I make a bit, we're all happy :D

    Good Morning All

    :beer:Many Happy Returns Snoozer - have a lovely day:beer:

    Diva where are you?x

Sunnyday - these things are sent to test us! Hope today is uneventful for you.

Yesterday was so lovely here. Didn't get a lot of paperwork done but was productive in other ways. Popped into a client and sorted out an ongoing issue. Picked up the van which I drove home by myself - will get some manouvering lessons in this week. Its not a little van its long wheel base and hightop so is quite different from driving my little car.

The evening was so lovely that we all went to a lovely park in Maldon and had chips for tea overlooking the river. Not OS but was very nice.

So leftovers for dinner tonight. Hope to get loads of paperwork done now all my problem issues have been sorted as I havn't done any baking or anything for ages. Want to get back up straight as also need to spring clean soon & start sorting the garden.

Anyway, best get on with it. Have a good one.x

    Morning all.

Tru :T look forward to seeing little Ruby :D.

Off to work today, there is always so much to do at home that I would rather stay here and get on, still needs must and all that.

Yesterday afternoon I washed down the outside of the conservatory, took me hours, but it looks so much better now, and it was such a beautiful day.

Next week I will start on dd's bedroom, the new flooring is down, and skirting, so its more painting for me.

Dinner tonight is pasta, dd and I will have some pasta bake which has been lurking in the freezer, and OH will have one of those fresh filled pasta things, also from the freezer, with salad.

No washing to do here either, its been such nice weather , that I have been searcing out washing, both dog beds have been done, might start on curtains if this continues.

Happy St Patricks day to those celebrating.

    Have good days all xx

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday to Snoozer, have a great day xx

Morning all and Happy St Patricks Day to those who celebrate it!

Have a busy day ahead. Drop the kids at school, have to go early on Weds as it's swimming day.

Drop some clothes off at the charity shop, buy cat litter, buy milk and need to get something for tea tonight.

Before I know it, it will be time to get the kids from school again!

Hope everyone has a really good day, whatever you're doing.

    Morning all

Love and hugs to those who are sad or poorly.

Dry and overcast here this morning. OH already left at stupid early o'clock. Had pork chops, mash, veg, gravy and leftover yorkshires for dinner last night. Really need to visit the trade butcher's as the chops were from a large supermarket and no where near as nice as what I buy from the butcher, but I need to defrost outside freezer so am trying to use up the contents before I re-fill it. Dinner tonight is going to be lamb hotpot and veg, there's quite a lot of meat so may be able to make a ready meal for the freezer too.

My little car is sick so booked into the garage on Friday - think it may be expensive.

I haven't menu planned for Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun so need to have a think this afternoon when I get in from work, so I don't go mad spending little extra bits here and there - may do liver casserole, haven't had that for ages. Also didn't get any baking done this week, so really must get that done, but have a busy few weeks ahead as need to get the dining room decorated before carpet is laid. No other OS to report.

    Have a good day everyone.

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
