Wholemeal pasta salads, tuna, mayo, sweetcorn, peppers, cucumber etc.
Wraps with meat and salad in.
Couscous or bulgar wheat with chopped salad veg, or roasted veg. You could add protein too, chicken, prawns etc.
Box of natural yoghurt with added fruit, blueberries, strawberries etc.
    Wholemeal crackers and cheese.

    I hate sandwiches !

    Sounds fab aliadds! Thanks! x

Would love to do him some of those things meer, they sound delicious! Unfortunately salads and yoghurts are a bit difficult as he needs dry things he can eat using his hands whilst he's on the go. I hate sandwiches too! x

Would a food flask be any good? I had the same problem with my OH and bought him a Thermos flask. He absolutely loves it. 1lb of mince will make him four good portions of mince in gravy with spuds and veg or spag bol/chilli. Its a great way of using up leftovers too.

My hubby has to eat his lunch in his van (and doesnt always get chance to wash his hands properly) so some foods are tricky but all you need is a spoon and the flask. You can also put chilled pasta salad in there in summer.

    Hi everyone,

Would anyone be able to offer me some cost-effective pack up ideas for me to make my OH?

He walks miles a day, so needs something fairly easy to eat on the go but with enough fuel in them to keep him going. All I seem to have fed him is sandwiches of the ham or cheese or egg variety and a bag of crisps! Not good and if I were him I'd be getting pretty bored of it! Plus I'd like to shoehorn in something healthy if I could.

Total brainblock on this one and recipe websites aren't yielding much inspiration so help would be much appreciated!

    Thanking you in advance! x

I live next to a waitrose that does cheap pastries muffins/brioches/whatever at late afternoon. Can you find stuff you can use the next day? I know I shouldn't suggest this but use your judgement.:D

Does he like fruit cake? One made at the weekend would last him all week.

  • the pasty idea could be expanded
leftover chilli, spag bol etc as fillings
wrapped in foil, he can peel it like a burrito

these could be made ahead of time and frozen
