How about couscous, you can buy plain couscous and flavour 50g of it with a teaspoon of the flavourings from Tesco. Very money saving and less than 200 cals per portion.
Or buy a 60g pot 66p (slightly more calories) eg http://www.tesco.com/superstore/xpi/7/xpi58967397.htm
1kg plain cous cous £1.24 http://www.tesco.com/superstore/xpi/0/xpi57773420.htm
Flavourings £1.25 last forever eg http://www.tesco.com/superstore/xpi/5/xpi57840525.htm
Ainsley Harriot also does some ready flavoured ones, Iceland are currently doing them with 3 packets inside for £1, I have 1/2 packet a day so that's only 17p per day for lunch and 165 calories.
I'm laughing all the way to a fat bank balance and a slim figure :rotfl:

Thx for that tip, although I've never had couscous, is it the same as rice?
I don't shop at MrT, but will be visiting MrS tomorrow, so I'll have a look there, do I cook it the same as rice, and what stage do I add the flavourings?
One other question peeps, is tinned fruit high in calories and sugar?Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

The quickest and easiest is a made up packet of Batchelor's Pasta 'n' Sauce, whisk in 3 large eggs. Pour into a flan dish, pop into oven Gas 6 for about 30-40 mins.
It sets into a crustless quiche which is tasty, filling and slimming tooClick here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

To 'cook' couscous, put 50g in a bowl, 1 teaspoon flavouring, add hot water and stir. Leave for 2-5 mins, stir again and eat. Easy peasy :j . Or if using Ainsley Harriot, just add water, stir, and stir after 2-5 mins. Just need a kettle/flask of hot water.

Don't see why not, I've only ever eaten it hot/warm.

Try this. I do one every weekend and take a slice into work. It's very filling and (usually) keeps me off my sandwiches until lunchtime. If you leave out any milk & butter, it's also "sin free" for slimming purposes. Also, InStore/Poundstretchers do packets of Batchelor Pasta in Sauce for just 49p.
PASTA & COTTAGE CHEESE FLAN
Makes about 0.75L
INGREDIENTS
1 packet of pasta in sauce
Water
1 egg
200g pot of cottage cheese
Ground pepper to taste
METHOD
Make up the pasta in sauce, according to the instructions on the packet but replacing any milk with an equal quantity of water and omitting any butter.
Break the eggs into a bowl and pick out any bits of shell. Mix up the eggs. Add the cottage cheese. Mix up again. Season with the pepper.
Put the pasta and sauce into a flat ovenproof dish. Level off the surface. Leave to cool until the sauce has thickened. Put the egg and cottage cheese mixture on top. Spread to cover the pasta.
Cook in a preheated oven at 180°C, 350°F, gas mark 4 for 20 to 30 minutes until golden on top.
ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES
Put a sliced tomato on top. Use ‘quark’ instead of the cottage cheese.
PS. It sounds similar to the SW quiche above. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

I'm not to sure where to post thi as I'm unable to locate the SW thread.
I cooked this recipe on Friday and although I followed the instructions it turned out a disaster, the marmite taste was to strong and the " loaf" wouldn't set, it turned out all slodgy, I left it in the oven much longer than suggested hoping it would set, but it never did, any idea's where I went wrong please?
Baked bean loaf
Serves 4
SW plan: 2 syns per serving on green plan
400g can baked beans
1 small onion, finely chopped
57g wholemeal bread (6 syns or 1xHEB)
2 tbsp tomato ketchup (2 sins)
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp yeast extract (Marmite)
1 tsp dried mixed herbs
Seasoning
Make the bread into breadcrumbs. Then wet a 1lb loaf tin, and line with non-stick baking parchment. Mix together all the ingredients and turn into the prepared tin. Level the surface and bake in a preheated oven at 180*c for about 35 minutes until firm to the touch. Leave to cool in the tin for a few minutes, then turn out, remove the paper and serve warm or cold.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
