    I've gone back to public transport today after 6 years of using a motorbike:-

    Train = £270 a month
    Bike = £189 fuel

    Adding tyres, services, insurance, brake pads, etc. and suddenly the train is cheap.

    :(

    Not here in North Wales where public transport is dire, no viable public transport for a 30 mile commute at 6 am, even for 9 am would be problematic for many.

    Of course some don't have the choice so have to balance their earnings with their travel outgoings.

    My Mrs is in the same boat, she must drive to work she doesn't have a choice in it.

    I do, and therefore I've take the choice to get off the roads and relax after a number of years

    I still reckon it would be cheaper using the bike over the course of the year . . . . .and more pleasurable

    But what do you do other times when you're not at work?

    Me? Well I like to go for a drive to visit people and places. If I didn't have the car I'd be sitting at home all day twiddling my thumbs or waiting ages for a bus or two.

    Just my 2p :p

    Just dont forget to set aside £1500 for a new diesel pump when you knacker it.

    Or burn the injectors out.

    And invalidate any warranty you have on the car.

    Properly filtered wvo in a bosch equped car to sensible % will do no harm .
    there are plenty of people doing it (check out goat industries)
    ive only got 6 or 7 years experience and now make proper bio diesel for more modern common rail equped vehicles

    cheers
