OS Daily Thread - Tuesday 16th March

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 16th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

My OS-iness was a bit lacking yesterday, we ended up having a takeaway. It was really delicious. I paid for it so it wouldnt come out of our grocery budget. Was worth every penny.
Breakfast will be ready brek and fruit.
Lunch will be coronation chicken sandwiches in HM bread. Dinner will be something made with the bedrock mince mix in the freezer. I think I will throw some tinned toms in it and make pasta bolognaise.
I hope everyones day goes well and that anyone feeling poorly feels better. With love, light and
for all.

Good Morning Diva & all to follow.
Been up since 5.30 this morning, birds were singing at the tops of their voices
Weather was beautiful yesterday and today's forcast is very good :j
Need to go to Dartford first thing this morning then pick up a van. Once home will be in the office as it is VAT return time
OH is at home again and knowing that it is going to be positively balmy today will probably work in the garden.
Leftover beef for OH & myself tonight, macaroni cheese for the kids.
Going to get on now and make the most of the early start.
Have a great day & (((hugs))) to all who need one.x0 -
Morning.
Work today, then 3 days off..... Weather is turning, so it will be wet and misty, bit muggy and not very pleasant that I can see....
DD interview went OK. I hope they can tell if she is suitable after only 10 minutes! It's a great nursing degree all paid for by the NHS and bursary to boot, so I hope she gets in....
Traffic was not so busy and the Uni is 5 mins from the train station, so it would be ideal for her.
More left overs for supper yesterday, Roast chicken today, after ASDA reduced all it's fresh ones to £3 last night.
Well folks, have a good day.

Thank you Diva - sadly when we saw MIL at the weekend (its been 2 weeks) she was worse than my husband (a doctor) had expected her to be. However she has her good days - fingers crossed it is quick. We made some tough decisions yesterday about splitting the family up due to husbands work (the uncertainty of it) and the need for stability for the children. So in the summer I am going to be moving with the children.
This means that I have loads of junk to go through as we'll be putting two and a half houses into one. OH is probably feeling a bit abandoned, but he does understand and agrees that this is the best option. So will start again today going through everything - must empty the freezer before we move!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning everyone
Christening went really well on Sunday, the weather was lovely too.
Diva, I have to let you know that Aunt Sally's Apple Cake went down very well, as there was a lot of cake left DD asked if anyone would like to take some home and 2 guests requested 'the apple cake' please
Can't seem to get going this morning and really need to as not even unpacked the suitcase and back to work today, OH went back to work at 12 last night:eek:
Not thought about tea tonight, something easy from the freezer I think. Need to get some washing on so had better get off here and get cracking.
Have a good day xwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Good morning everyone

Wasnt on yesterday at all as DS3 had a sicky bug and we were shattered having being up most of Sunday night. The washing machine has never been so busy during the night  He seems a lot better today although he will be off school with DH. I had yesterday off and missed being at the course so am looking forward to going back in today. It's our last week before we all start on our work placements, it's gone by so quickly I can't believe it!
I made another batch of frozen sandwiches up on Sunday - tuna & mayo with red onion this time - so that's lunch sorted out. Home Bargains had a great offer on Ocean Spray dried cranberries last week so I've stocked up for my lunchbox and to make Twinks with.
Tea tonight is sweet & sour chicken with rice which I can make when I get back later :T
Hugs and positive thoughts going out where needed & have a good day all

Morning all,
Looks like another lovely day today :T, the dogs bed has been on the line all night, it has a frost on at the moment, but I am sure it will have killed of any nasties
Yesterday I finished off the painting in the kitchen :T:j, looks so much nicer, I spent the afternoon in the garden, I mowed the lawn, which was desperate, strimmed it, and edged it, it looks so much nicer now, it looks cared for, there is still so much to do out there, but it has tidied it up.
Today I need to painters mate in the kitchen, and do a few tiny jobs, which should take me an hour or so, I then want to clean the downstairs windown, as the sun is showing all the marks.
I think I might do this for tea, with cous cous instead of the toast, I will do some brocoli with it too.
Thanks for the wishes for my mum, she was a lot better yesterday, I think it just all got too much for her on sunday, also my brother promised to visit her on mothers day, and did not turn up  , he is the apple of her eye, and I think this upset her more than she said.
Have good days all xx0 -
Bargainbird - just for you http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=0&forumid=4#

I must confess I've stopped using the smilies as it keeps making my laptop crash (plus we have pants broadband and I found I kept losing posts )
Anyway good morning
Looks like another lovely day. Off to soft play with H and the kids. What I get done after that is anyones guess as I just feel shattered all the time
Tea will be ham and lentil ragout.
Some washing to sort out and I never attempted Mt Ironing yesterday so perhaps that's a job for this afternoon as by the time evening rolls around I am no good for anything
Diva - sorry Tris isn't doing to well. Lots of positive vibes for him xx
esmf - hugs to you and the family xx sounds like you've got a lot going on.
Right had better go and put my slap on (make up for those of you that don't follow my lingo :rotfl:)
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Morning All
Busy day today, will be meeting the vicar taking Dad's service on Thursday at 10am, DB does ot wish to be involved with that aspect, but has done most of the others and loads of running around. He sees it as religious which he doesn't do, and I see it as the story of Dad's life, so have typed out some notes as it is easy to get distracted and forget things. Then on to the hospital at 11.20 am to see about the extra head growing hopefully this time will be the right department! Afterwards will call into town to pick up some fresh stuff.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning all
Love and hugs to those who are sad or poorly.
Dry, sunny and cold here this morning. Got a huge line of washing dry out on the line yesterday, perhaps Spring is on it's way! Have washed another load over night so will try again today.
OH already gone to work, boys and myself have just finished breakfast. Dinner last night was pasta and tonight we are having pork chops, mash, veg, gravy and leftover yorkshires. Thankfully work was not quite so busy yesterday but still busy enough.
Seem to have a problem with the central locking on my car, so will be booking it in to the garage today - just hope it's not too expensive. On a good note, OH went up into the loft as we had some leftover paint which needs using up when we decorate the dining room, he found a whole new tray of white for the ceiling, a part pot of white, new tray and roller and half a pot of the colour I've chosen which now appears to be the same as the colour we painted the kitchen a few months ago - so a least that isn't going to cost us as much as we thought (more to put towards the car problem as I suspect that's not going to be cheap).
Nothing much OS going on so will pop off and get ready for work.
Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
