Hi guys, we're all here to help. If you're lurking and wondering whether to post - please do! There's loads of folk with loads of valuable knowledge they're willing to share.Numpty_Monkey wrote: »Originally Posted by Pania
Hi everybody.
Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.
What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.
If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.
what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?
firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.
The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!
It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis
PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.
Kind wishes

I don't think it's a dictionary verb yet, is it? I imagine people, like my old English teacher, campaigning against that!
But "googling things" is more concise than "looking up information on the most pertinent search engine available" I guess.
I have loads of books on how language has changed over the years depending on how society use it. It's fascinating - but I hope the trendof removing all vowles and speaking in letters doesn't become the norm! I'll be joining my old English teacher!
I was only joking earlier, I find language (and the development of language) fascinating. I studied languages at college/school and I like working out the roots of words and where they came from (can't remember the word for that at the moment)Numpty_Monkey wrote: »Don't worry about them, part of the thing I had to today I put loads of DFW accronims in:D

Is it etymology?
I had to do lots of sentence trees during my degree. I hope never to see another one; they strike fear into my very soul.

That's it, nicca, thanks:j:j. I think I find it interesting because I studied languages and can see how they link together - well, that's my excuse anyway :rotfl:.

Night night!
Wasn't expecting any-one still to be around.
I had exploding cheesecake issues, that's why I'm here now!
Nargle, I'll tell you all about it in the morning.
