Next job is a bit of hoovering and then I will eventually get showered and dressed and take the bags of stuff to the charity bin.

Quick question for teachers, as I'm in an argument over what's full time and what's part time... how many weeks of the year are you employed for, and how many days/weeks annual leave do you get? I need to understand whether it is significantly different to standard terms of employment (apart from the restriction on not taking holiday in term time).

If anyone here works in Higher Education I'm looking for some information on that as well

I have done LOTS of laundry today and have tidied my desk in the hope that it will help me work more efficiently. Not helping so far though :o

    Afternoon all.

Just taking a lunch break; I'm getting quite good at remembering to eat mid-day; I reckon it's doing the Flylady stuff that's helped!:p

Hope Toots is continuing to do OK.

LadyL sorry to hear that your news wasn't what you'd have liked.

    Soappie interview vibes for you.

Jinky strength vibes coming your way. 'Fraid you can't have my spoons, though.:D

Sandy what goes on, mate? PM me if you don't feel up to posting on the board. Pretty please?

Right, I'm off to sort through Mr LW's underwear.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Hello all, Have redone Kitchen as it was in a real mess. Have also put 3 loads through w/m and pegged 2 out on line.

Tackled DS2's bedroom - can't tell you how many sweet papers I've picked up. Can't believe he has pristine, white, filling free teeth - must have been the breastfeeding 11 years ago :D

Also dug the barbeque out of the shed and gave it all a good soak in washing soda followed with a scrub with a wire brush. It's sparkling clean and all ready to go now so let the sunshine continue and the temperature push the mercury up.

Should be on the way to DD2's nursery now but she is eating her lunch rather slowly so I'm catching up on here.

Dusty, is it bright orange or burnt orange? I like burnt orange but I've never been brave enough to use it.

It's bright - carrot colour - DS3's choice. It is a bngger to get on!

Need to stop now as I'm due to invigilate in 15 minutes - best get changed!

We are contracted for 1265 hours of directed time per year, unless on the leadership spine, when all bets are off. This is usually all used in parents evenings, meetings, and teaching time. It does not cover time for marking or preparation, except that we have 10% of timetabled time allocated to ppa (even the most efficient teacher will not achieve what they need to in ppa time). We always get bank holidays and otherwise our holidays are as determined by the LA as school holiday dates, less 5 training days (thanks Kenneth).
NASUWT website probably has more detail if you need it, terms and conditions governed by the "burgundy book" and "blue book".

Does that help? Custom is 39 weeks of the year, 13 weeks' holiday.

N.B. If considering messing with something as a governor, I would urge caution as teachers generally do way more that it appears on the surface, including presence in school in holidays/weekends, and if they stop, lots of things beneficial to kids may go t*ts up!
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x
