    Hi there,
Just wondered if anyone had any advise for bidding on hotels in New York. Any strategies that were successful? We're going for 10 days in April (6th-16th) next year.

The guide does say that I'm unlikely to win anything over 3-4 days so should I split up my holiday in an attempt to get a nice hotel for part of the holiday?

    Thanks in advance.

Plenty of free advice and strategies in BetterBidding

Problem with 10 days in NY (or anywhere) is that you may have overbid for just one or two days on the set of 10, so are paying too much overall.

The other problem is that if you win a slightly seedy\dodgy hotel you're lumbered with it for 10 days

Personally I've never stayed more the 3-4 days anywhere with PL.

    At this early stage I'd:

Decide where you want to stay and look at the likely hotels you may win.
Decide what the maximum is you want to pay (inc taxes).
Research these hotels for lowest winning price and also any good\bad reviews.

If an area has one stinky hotel then you may not want to bid at that star level in that area.

Research other ways to get a good price-Paying a few ££'s more may get you a better known hotel.

Now, as you're bidding for 10 days straight IMHO you should ask Thereuare on Betterbidding for his advice as this is out of my realm;)

I know what I would do (First off-not stay in NYC that long:D) but as I have not done this nor seen others do this I cannot give sound personal advice.

    BTW
if you do get good advice from Theruare then support his site with a Paypal donation!
  • If its any help I got a 10 night stay on Priceline in New York 7 years ago. I also got a 7 night stay in March this year. Both great hotels but different areas. It can be done. :)

Care to share what you won in March and for how much?

    It will help others.

    Thanks
  • Many thanks to you both - blindman and miss_edith. I'll pop over to BetterBidding and take a look.
  • In March I got the World Centre / Club Quarters in Downtown for just under £60 a night including taxes and charges. I thought it was a great hotel, excellent value for money.
I did report it on Betterbidding at the time. :D
  • Just wondering why there has been no new posts is their something wrong with the site etc, I was hopeing to have a go at getting a hotel in Amsterdam. any comments advice would be most welcome

There are a couple of other PL threads on MSE and some people post there.

PL was flavour of the month a couple of years back-but it seems to have waned here on MSE.

They are still up and running though, nothing has changed, so read the info on the first page and research and bid accordingly.

    Good Luck.

I sooo love Priceline and the only time I don't use it is when I want a club room in a hotel. For room only it is great.
