Let us stay on the religious theme then, the Bible also said;
'Thou shalt not steal'!
No sympathy from me I'm afraid. The OP has been fortunate in respect of not being prosecuted, however, she may get a letter through her door very shortly if the shop from where she stole has a 'civil recovery scheme' in operation.
I would suggest she hands in her notice rather than be sacked as a dishonest person and contact the local jobcentre very soon. Although being a thief, the OP would have left of her own accord, however, it will be unfortunate that her next employer will be employing a dishonest person without his knowing - which is wrong.
I am of the opinion that all shoplifters should be prosecuted - criticise me if you wish, but if I cannot afford anything, I save up until I can - I would never dream of stealing it.0 -
cant beleive youve asked the question, your a thief, end of..... live by the sword die by the sword tough.....
religion? hurumph..... not even going down that route.......THE CHAINS OF HABIT ARE TOO WEAK TO BE FELT UNTIL THEY ARE TOO STRONG TO BE BROKEN... :A0 -

There is another problem, I work in one of the shops in the shopping centre and security has contacted my work place. Police wasnt involved just security took my pic and they didn't mention any penalty or what will happen next. Please help - im really freaking out! Can I lose my job??? will this appair on CRB???

It's sticky fingered little p!keys like you that make shopping more costly for the rest of us.
You may have learnt your lesson, but i would bet my next 10 years wages the only reason for your repent is that you were caught.
You may be skint, i don't know, but so are millions of others and they don't turn into to common thieves.
Wind your neck in .....bloody Liberal!williamD1964 wrote: »God I hate this place at times. So many judgemental people making nasty comments. I can honestly say i have never done anything illegal.
Wrong and foolish yes....nothing that would get me arrested and lose my job though.0 -
The OP asked for advice as opposed to judgement but then I suppose we're all perfect until the contrary is proved and we are caught - for what ever infraction it might be.lolipop177 wrote: »I was caught shoplifting in boots, uk in the shopping centre. @OP. You are fortunate in one respect that this will not appear on a CRB check as the police were not involved. However, the ban from Boots and the centre could well be problematic for your continued employment.
The only way in which you can approach this is to be frank with your employer - as it seems that the centre security have already contacted them. There is a risk that you will be disciplined and that in turn carries the risk of dismissal. As you also seem to have accepted that you shoplifted your employer may take the view that you can no longer be trusted. They may of course take a different view and give you some form of slap on the wrist.
I'm afraid there isn't an easy way out of this that doesn't include some form of potential sanction. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).

Yeah right.
If this is an attempt to defend the indefensible, well it ain't working - well not with me anyway! Two wrongs do not make a right, the OP has stolen, is a thief, end of story.
Maybe some posters on here who has sympathy with the OP would think differently if it was their shop that was the victim of a [STRIKE]shoplifter[/STRIKE] sorry - thief.
She now has to live with the consequenses of her actions.0 -
She may well find this a blessing in disguise. In time you will realise that the best thing that ever happened to you is to get caught, as you will have learned the ramifications of your actions, and put a halt on you going further down the road of stealing bigger, better or more.
I think you should get in first with your manager and explain what happened. Clearly, theres no getting away from it but being upfront might swing a bit in your favour. After all, whatever happens you will need a reference from your boss. If you have a good relationship, you might discuss the reference and how it might be worded. All depends on your relationship with your boss.
Good luck op x:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I wasn't attempting to defend the indefensible. Shoplifting is wrong and the OP will indeed have to live with the consequences.
I'm simply questioning Woody's statement that he/she has never done anything illegal. I very much doubt there's anyone that can honestly say that.0 -

I would suggest the OP's current employer would be on a sticky wicket should he/she decide to give the thief a favourable reference and decide to omit her dishonesty.
Should the OP's future employer become another victim of theft, that employer could seek legal redress from the OP's current employer.0
