I was caught shoplifting in boots, uk in the shopping centre. Now im banned from boots and shopping centre for a year! I know i did a horrible thing and this is my first time and the last, believe me I've learned my lesson and I will never ever do it again. There is another problem, I work in one of the shops in the shopping centre and security has contacted my work place. Police wasnt involved just security took my pic and they didn't mention any penalty or what will happen next. Please help - im really freaking out! Can I lose my job??? will this appair on CRB??? :(:o

I take it if your banned from the shopping centre, which the management of the shopping centre is entitled to ban you from then you wontbe able to go to work, so effectively you can class that as already losing your job. I am sure that you will find your employers will cease your contract withthem any day soon, think you will find if you try to enter the shoppingcentre to get to work then you will find the police being contacted to have you removed from the shopping centre.

As for it being on a CRB, it can only show on that if you have been convicted.

How will you get to work if you work in the shopping centre?

Sorry - but it sounds like your job has already gone :( The only thing I can suggest is coming clean with your boss and seeing if they will move you to another branch, if there is one

Can they eject her physically though without risking getting done for assault?

Is it the sort of centre where you could go into 'your' shop through a back/staff entrance without passing security?

Think you would still need to come clean with your boss - and hope for understanding. How does your 'shop' treat shoplifters?

Well sorry I have very little sympathy with somebody who shop lifts. Had you of turned round, and said, you know what, my children was starving and I was stealing a loaf of cheap bread from the Supermarket so I could make sure they eat next week, then maybe I would have had some sympathy but stealing from Boots which was probably a luxury item?! What made you do such a thing? If you can't afford it, then well errr find a cheaper option.

Sounds to me, that you got off relatively easy to be honest. Don't boots normally have a policy to prosecute anybody shop lifting.

Work wise - I think, if you have shown yourself dishonest enough to shoplift from one shop, why would a shop want you near there goods :( Sorry but true. I think best you can hope for really, is explaining yourself to the boss, having a very good reason and hopeing they will still give you some form of good reference :(

Sorry to be harsh but true here

How well do you get on with your boss? Could you phone him/her and explain what happened and see what can be done? If your boss is willing to give you another chance then he/she may be able to get the ban lifted or at least restricted to other shops in the shopping centre. Or he/she may be able to get you transferred to another branch? I suspect you have put the kiss of death on your job by your behaviour, but you won't know until you speak to your boss. If you have indeed lost your job then you have another problem - getting the boss to give you a reference for the next job, and putting on your job application form the reason for leaving your present job.......Yes, I think you probably realise now what a can of worms you have opened. I think you may need professional help to establish what it was that caused you to do something so illogical in the first place. At least speak to your boss first and see how the land lies - if you have been there a while and have a good work record you might get another chance.
