Money saving Diva - Thanks for the well-wishes for foster-cat (Ruby). She got her drain out yesterday and is spending most of the time asleep. I think she's feeling sorry for herself mostly because she has to wear a buster collar to stop her opening the wound again.
Bitsy Beans - Happy Birthday! It's not so bad over this side ...

My mum and dad are coming for afternoon tea this afternoon. There's a banana loaf in the oven (smells lovely). I've discovered that sweetener loses its sweetness if cooked at over 180C so will need to be experimenting with times and temps but hopefully the loaf will be more edible than yesterday's fairy cakes which came out like scones!
I'm hoping for a NSD today although, if the banana loaf doesn't work I shall have to buy a cake from the Co-op. This would be doubly frustrating as I wouldn't be able to eat any (am off sugar at the moment, hence the sweeteners).
It's a beautiful day in Glasgow and it's lovely to be able to air out the house.
Happy Mother's Day to all and special hugs to those who find this a sad or bittersweet day.

Happy birthday Bitsy, my birthday sometimes falls on Mother's Day and I feel very cheated!
N9eav, I don't mind Mothering Sunday because it is traditional but I hate Father's Day and have never got my dad even a card. I know that sounds cheap but it's a bit of a standing joke between us that I don't believe in it as it is a manufactured occasion made just to con people into spending money.
DD rang from NZ and told me she was doing a bungee jump, at which I burst into tears and she promised me she wouldn't do it. I still feel stupidly fragile and am tearing up at the most trivial things.0 -
Thanks Hun, but we have not had any results yet, I think it was sisrercas who's dd had done well.
EEK! just checked and you`re rightSistercas if you`re reading this congrats to your DD
mind like a sieve me
Well the houndies are walked and are snoozing happilly, one of the men who cleans up the park brought a big bag of doggie bix out with him and i`ve never seen my two torment as much for something, every now and again he brings them something as do a few of the others so they`re very lucky. I`ve poured the meat juices over their food so there are now two empty bowls to wash. The dw has been on - i normally put it on at night but there just wasn`t enough to fill it with DH being away so i`ve shoved a load of the dinner pots in there this morning.
All the other pots are washed and draining away and i shall go and dry them shortly and them wash the doggie bowls and soak them some more food for later.
We`ve just had a short sharp shower which has soaked everything through so that may put paid to my outside jobs for a while, don`t really like messing with electrical things outside when the ground is wet but there`s always another day and i have plenty to keep me occupied indoors if it dosen`t dry out. The wind is very strong and very cold, the sun has vanished but i can see bright sky on the horizon so maybe it will put in another appearance soon.

Morning all,
Happy Birthday Bitsy dear, hope you have a wonderful day.
Had a lovely start to Mothers Day with the doggy crying to go for a walk! As she's still in season, I don't do this if I can help it, as I don't fancy fighting other dogs off, so I kicked OH out of bed and off they went! Got lovely funny cards from the boys and a tray of Ferrero Rocher, which we sat on the bed and ate. Well, we had 3 each and I'm keeping the rest for after Brunch which Oh is making as we speak. I too got some lillies which I adore, as you can tell from my Avvy. Yesterday we went out for some plants and things for me for mother's day, but all I came home with was two bags of compost! LOL.
Checked on my seeds this morning, and all my tomatoes are up, an I can see the peppers germinating, chuffed about that.
Dinner tonight will be roast chicken for the men in my life and Veggie Kievs from M & S for me - they are £3 for two, which is way too much for every day but I love them, and they are a treat for mother's day. May do some baking while the boys are off to see gran, I have some things I need to do today and would like some oeace and quiet to do them so I am not going. She knows I love her, anyway, and seeing her son and grandsons is her main priority, so I don't feel too bad about staying here.
Have a lovely day all, long may this lovely weather continue.

Morning everyone
Hope everyone is having a lovely mothers day for those that celebrate. I got a lovely hand made paperbasket with chocolates in and a lovely card with handprints in, made by DS2 at school.
Now regretting my decision to invite everyone to mine, about a dozen coming now. House is tidy jut need to sort all the food for 5pm, I end up getting a bit worked up sometimes and start worrying there won't be enough for everyone.
Happy Birthday Bitsy:beer:, enjoy the rest of your day.
jc2703 - the last bit of your post made me giggle:rotfl:.
MSD - love the poem.
Enjoy the rest of your day. Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. take Care.

Mothers Day. An excuse to rip people off with expensive cards and flowers.
Don't get me wrong it's not that I or anyone else does not love his Mum, it's the fact that we have to buy a card and a gift or else you look real bad!

I've had some lovely tulips and cards from the boys:j(they forgot last year - or didn't bother)
DH got me breakfast in bed and I had a lie in with my book before getting up and going carbooting. I managed to get some lovely clarkes shoes for a pound which will go lovely with my cocktail dress for the party next weekend:j
I'm off out soon for lunch(sisters treat) at a nice local pub with her and my sister so all in all a nice day!
DS1 did bring about 3 weeks worth of washing over yesterday:eek: but luckily its good drying weather. It looks like the end for him and his partner - not sure yet if he'll be moving back home(I hope so)
I hope all you Mums are having a lovely day:)Do what you love :happyhear0 -
