    I find it quite funny...

The police are going round stopping people left right and centre for videoing/photographing in public, citing terrorism reasons. Yet, google has managed to do virtually the entire country without getting into trouble, and done it in high quality, so you can see all the security/cctv/escape routes/packed areas etc that would be useful to a terrorist....

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

Thanks for this warning. I have just looked at mine and can clearly see my house, garden, car in driveway and alarm box on front of house.
Not very happy with having this on there, please could someone tell me how I get this removed.
    Thanks

Sell your car, pave over the garden and decomission the alarm.

Next time google photographs the area, problem solved.

Or contact google, there will be details on google maps for how to ask for removal of images.

On a serious note, I think as well as blurring out faces, they should blur out alarm boxes too, and impose a fake blur on houses without an alarm.

But then the burglars would be able to tell which houses didn't have an alarm

Seriously, why are people bothered about the fact that your alarm box is visible on Street View. The whole point of an external bell box is that it's visible, in order to deter potential burglars. That's why you can get dummy boxes!

Look what mess google street view has created, still dont understnad whats the difference between people seeing a house on street view and seeing it in person.
Well if your a criminal you can look at the house on street view. Have close ups of doors alarms and all access points. This will make any break in easier. If you tried to do that in person someone will realise something is up and you will more than likely have more problems attempting a break in than if you check the houde out on stret view first

Thats why I said to put a fake blur on houses without a bell box visible.... So no one knows if the blur is covering a real bell box or not.

The reason is simply because a burglar can learn quite easily how to circumvent certain makes/models of alarms, and what better way to find rich pickings than looking for houses with your favourite easy to get round bell box on front....

so let me get this straight, despite the fact that burglary rates have been falling in the UK for some years, somewhere at a secret location in the UK (one assumes that secret location wont be on google maps) is sat a group of master criminals who spend their lives trawling streetview looking for somewhere to burgle?

I think someone has been reading the Daily Mail again...

Rubbish. They could walk normally by your house (without anyone suspecting anything) and use the things called EYES!

When I put my address into Street View, it only shows the opposite side of the road. The house numbers are grossly inaccurate as well - the house opposite me is listed as number 14, but in reality it is number 5. So they even have the odds and evens on the wrong side of the road. Is there any way I can see my house? There doesn't seem to be a 'rotate' tool.

    So what?

People like you should get a grip and stop moaning. You'll be stopping people driving down your road next in case they see your house.

    Pathetic.

Is there any need to call someone pathetic just because your opinion differs?
