    When I put my address into Street View, it only shows the opposite side of the road. The house numbers are grossly inaccurate as well - the house opposite me is listed as number 14, but in reality it is number 5. So they even have the odds and evens on the wrong side of the road. Is there any way I can see my house? There doesn't seem to be a 'rotate' tool.

    use the round control in the top left if its there

    I've seen this at Airport security but never in just general public places. Do you mind be able to provide a link to confrim what you're saying.

    No you can't can you, you've just made it up!

    examples include an architectural photographer stopped on the street for photographing a church spire;

    a bbc photographer stopped in brighton for taking pictures of the christmas lights;

    an amateur photographer arrested for taking pictures of a fish and chip shop in chatham.
  • custardy, thank you. I'll have a look now. Not sure what's going on in the picture you posted and I'm too polite to hazard a guess!
  • Right, I've had a look and the photo was taken in the early summer, when my fuschia bushes were just beginning to bloom. the kids are really impressed that our house is on the net, so three happy children this morning!

    So because you haven't heard of something it must be made up?

    The Register regularly covers these type of stories and there's been coverage in the national press of the more extreme examples. Take a look at the link in jacktylers post too.

    Go and take a few snaps of the inside of a London railway station, see what happens.

    Are you grabbing the orange man in the corner so that the mapped streets go blue?
    Ooh er, matron! How does the orange man feel about that? :)

    Rubbish. They could walk normally by your house (without anyone suspecting anything) and use the things called EYES!
    Yes but you couldn't stand there with a pait of binos for hours looking at enlarged versions of all entries and exits alarm systems etc which is what you can do on streetview. I think you should have read my post a little better

    so let me get this straight, despite the fact that burglary rates have been falling in the UK for some years, somewhere at a secret location in the UK (one assumes that secret location wont be on google maps) is sat a group of master criminals who spend their lives trawling streetview looking for somewhere to burgle?
    Where did I say that? Someone asked what the difference was between looking at a house in person or on street view I have just described a possibility. Just because your imagination gets a little carried away you can imagine all the master criminals you like but i just answerd with one of many possibilities for dodgy use of streetview.
