We've got one too and yes, it's a great piece of kit.
  • Hi everyone.

I've been looking for a Sat Nav unit for a while now and this one seems to be getting good reviews and at £99 looks great value.

I'm off to America soon so does anyone know whether I can download and install additional maps onto this unit that will let me use it in America.

    Thanks.

See if it's been mentioned, or ask the question, at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=96 for the definitive answer, but I think you can buy the maps on a memory card, but that they'll cost you more than the original unit - so you may be better off paying more for a GPS system that comes with those maps included.

Hey Boatman - you wouldn't happen to have any recommendations for a GPS/PDA combo for occasional marine use, would you? Thanks - Tim.

Because if I stop to get petrol/shop mid journey I usually tend to turn off the ignition and lock the car!

I think this results in the unit having to reboot find its sats again etc. The batteries means it retains power.

You don't need to worry about that. When you switch back on, simply click on view map and it carries on with your route. Have done it umpteen times whilst shopping, stopping at petrol stations, visiting different retail parks etc. Continued every time!!:j

Have just been to purchase one of these, however we were talked out of it by a sales assistant. He told us they wern't up to much, wasn't very good in side roads etc. now i am totally confused, are they any good or not?

Had mine for 2 weeks now, its been absolutely brill! Even when i keep changing where i'm going to shop / go or detour its recalculated very, very quickly every time.
Adding the speed cameras was a big plus!!!
    Its the best £99 i've spent!:T
