I agree with lynneinjapan. I went into South Ruislip Comet to buy one for myself - all they had had been purchased awaiting customer pickup although they were expecting more.

Now the item page cannot be found on the website. Looks like some of us might have missed the boat due to the greed of others. Hope EBay is flooded and they all the speculators make a loss...

Has onayone on here used one of these with a Mac? I know the spec says Windos only but a lot of things network to a mac fine in my experience. It just depends on whether the connection goes through custom software or not. Anyone tried it??

Looks like the Garmin i3 has been removed from the Comet website. No mention of it anywhere.

  • Hi Martin

I just tried to follow the link to Comets website for the sat nav and it said that the page was unavailable. Also when I conducted a search on the website i could not find it. Please could you inform me if the deal is still on.

    Thank you

Whew! It seems I managed to get my 3 just in time! The guy in Comet said they had just had 5 delivered and that they were going like hotcakes!! They are currently selling on ebay for around £120-£130, which, in my opinion, is still a good deal considering what the little thing can do.

Is there any AC to DC Adaptor available for this to do the Sttings in the house instead of in the Car.

If so, what, where from at what price.

It won't work with my iMac under OSX.4.7 and with USB 1.0 - and results trying to use VirtualPC 7.0 (the world's slowest software - bar none) are patchy. I can't get it to work but I understand that some people have.

Garmin were very helpful in trying to get VPC to work for me but eventually they, and I, gave up!

Howver, Garmin assure me that there will be a Mac version of the required MacOSX compatible software ready by the end of 2006 (I'm not sure about OS9 and lower, but I doubt that they'll support those now) and the next updates to the UK/Eire maps aren't due until next year so that's OK with me.

Can anyone who bought one of these from Comet and hasn't installed the POI's/Safety Cams check something for me?

I have eventually successfully installed the POI's and safety camera data which are now showing under Where To > Food, Hotels & More > Custom Points but I'm wondering if I've overwritten anything in Custom Points that was already on the transflash card when I got it.

Suppose it's too late anyway but...

(Mine has the removeable memory not the inbuilt memory version)
    Hi
There are no custom POIs on there on a fresh unit - so don't worry, you've not lost anything!
