Can anyone who bought one of these from Comet and hasn't installed the POI's/Safety Cams check something for me?
I have eventually successfully installed the POI's and safety camera data which are now showing under Where To > Food, Hotels & More > Custom Points but I'm wondering if I've overwritten anything in Custom Points that was already on the transflash card when I got it.
Suppose it's too late anyway but...
(Mine has the removeable memory not the inbuilt memory version)This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

Comet are out of these in Lincolnshire, however, Carphone Warehouse had some in Spalding and pricematched.
Now to get the updates......0 -
Bought mine from Comet in Harlow, Essex. they had a few in stock but none on display. Big poster in the window advertising them at £99. Got myself intentionally lost round some country lanes and it had no problem getting me home. Bargain!!0

The number of times this thing has mis-directed me is now beyond a joke - sending me left or right when it should leave me on the road I am on, sending me via towns and villages on the outward journey, then, more sensibly, via the motorways and main roads on the same journey in reverse. No wonder the US fired a rocket at the Chinese embassy using their SatNav!
Whilst I don't have one of these units I do have satnav and I think some of the people criticising the unit in this thread are missing the point somewhat. Satnav is not for use on journeys you already know like the back of your hand, invariably it will take you what you perceive to be out of your way (or usual route). Satnav comes into its own when you are going somewhere you have never been before! No looking at the map required, no planning the route the night before, no arguing with the 'co-driver' if you take a wrong turn. 'Maybe' you might end up going a couple of miles out of your way on ocassions but fact is you WILL get there virtually stress free!I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -

I have a mini with a heated front screen and it has no trouble getting a signal.

One of ours is fitted to a Ford Focus with heated front windscreen. We have had no problem with the signal. The unit has been postioned between the two centre vents using the stick on suction disc. I would recommend this unit and its been a very useful driving tool. Bought from Somerfields when priced at £99 a number of months back. Firmware version 2.7 and ver 8 Maps.0 -

My car (Picasso) has a heat-reflective windscreen and I was told to position it on the quarterlight. It picks up the signal there no problem. This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

Comet, Currys, PC world, Halfords, Staples all out of Stock in Croydon Area.
So it will have to be Mail order shame as I go on holiday tomorrow.0 -
Bought mine from Comet Friern Barnet last night.
They had *1* left!!
I too went into the CPW and they agreed to Price Match the unit for me, however, the store Manager(!) was unable to find any codes to discount it, and after making a phone call, told me that they can't Price Match sat nav systems!
The unit is now officially my new favourite gadget (just about superceeding by bargain Ice Maker for £30!). Works a treat, and was totally impressed by the fact that you can simulate a journey before you take it so you have the chance to familiarise yourself with the route before you take it. Excellent.
Off to thank the OP now.
ETA: This site is v v dangerous for a financially impoverished bargain hunting MSE like myself, because whilst it does indeed save you money, prior to 9am yesterday when I re-read this thread, I didn't actually NEED a sat nav system. 24 hours later, suddenly, I can't live without having one....Go figure!
