Hi Ladies and Gents,

I guess, i will go first...:ofrom the top of my head:
netmums nearly new board is great: http://www.netmums.com/boards/nearlynew/manchester/
great bargains, great freebies
Parents- Do not hesitate to visit your local sure start playgroups.
Martenscroft Hulme, Rusholme Trinity House, Whalley Range Burford Road,
Alexandra Park centre, Moss Side Playcentre,Selworthy Road
Are the ones I have visited and my children love:j
Freebies galore, parties, events, support etc..
Hulme Market: Have a lot of great stores.
I enjoy a health store in there that sell quality products from a herbalist, *(much more potent than holland and barrett could ever sell-)*
nice incense
knowledgeable books
they also have some yummy natural fragrances that have no alcohol or cheap/synthetic fillers in them-they duplicate designer fragrances and it only costs £10!!!:D
There is a Vegan/veggie restaraunt opening in hulme market in a few weeks.:T
Poundland- I think everyone knows its a great shop , with excellent bargains;)
Also Quality Save/Home Bargains:)
There is a discount shoe shop at the end of Oldham Road, i cannot remember the name, but they sell shoes from big stores such as clarks for 80% off:eek: i bought two lovely pairs of shoes from there last week for a whopping £10!!!!:D
I will add anything else I remember to this thread.
I visualise this thread growing 100 pages long, I get a million "thanks"
and all of us residing anywhere in Manchester will know where good deals/events etc are taking place!!:D:p

Chorlton has a few unique shops and some cheapy shops (B&M, Quality Save) plus some charity shops. And of course the fabulous Unicorn vegan grocery which sells amazing vanilla porridge amongst other things ........
Fred Aldous (craft shop, but not cheap) and Abakhan Fabrics in the Northern Quarter of the city centre if you're crafty or into sewing.
Jollye's petfood store in Fallowfield for just about everything pet related you could ever want. And the staff are nice too!
Paperchase (near Marks and Sparks) has a sale bit right up on the top floor of art stuff and bits'n'bobs - sometimes have nice stuff reduced right down.
Hulme Community Garden Centre has a 'pot rescue' where you can pick up used plant pots of all different sizes for free.
That's about all I can think of right now. But I've lived in Manchester a looong time now so if you have any questions pm me and I'll try to answer.
That's all I can think of at the moment.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

I like Venus Food Store in Rusholme- not in the centre but on the A34 (Anson Rd) near the junction with Dickenson Road. You can't miss it, it's painted all in red.
It's a Turkish/Cypriot supermarket and has a great deli counter where you can buy olives, feta cheese, a hundred types of baklava and turkish delight and freshly baked sesame seed bread. There are also aisles of olive oils, honey, pulses, nuts and seeds, spices, pickles, fresh fruit and veg (including GIGANTIC watermelons in the summer), teas, sweets and snacks, a meat counter and well- everything!
DOn't go if you are expecting a trendy chorlton-esque deli and health food shop, it's very cheap and cheerful in its presentation but nice and spacious and you can fill your trolley with some great bargains. Parking is a bit hit and miss as it is just out front but definitely worth popping in for a nosy if passing.0 -
If anyones heading to a united game then park your car around the 'Skerton Road' area (although not outside my house please
) its free and only a short walk to the united ground
