But if they won't replace it and hit a brick wall with the UK (which is my prediction...) what then? I don't think Japan realise exactly how difficult the customer services over here can be!My advise is to reject the car for a replacement, and to pursue it with Toyota UK.
But phoning Japan won't achieve much, the uk are providing the customer services the Japanese have told them to.
In Japan, the treatment towards customers is completely different! And in the States, as we know, the Americans won't take any cr4p!Genie

Its what a court would see. How many miles where on the clock when you received/Does it show any signs of being driven before and the clock being wound back. If not then technically its unused and thus new, just that its been sat around for a while. If you don't get a satisfactory response from the dealer/head office in the UK there no point in contacting Japan. The next course of action would be try and get a free solicitor session to see if you've got a case, for court.0

Did you get finance on the car? If so you may want to contact them as well.0

Be British and just do sweet nothing? Or fight your corner?
Take it back. Demand a New. NEW CAR. I had problems with my Honda Jazz gearbox. I posted on here about it & got a few helpful members & a few (they know who they are) unhelpful members. Well just Google 'Honda Jazz gearbox problem' & my thread from here is one of the first 3. I bet Honda didn't like that? Keep posting here & get it up high in Google & if they haven't done anything about the car at least you will make people think twice about Toyota or the dealer.Nice to save.0 -

Exactly - we have to learn to SHOUT louder to be heard. And the more hits that there are re Toyota re Toyota issues - then yes, it will boost it up on Google.
I hope the OP is fighting her corner. Why should she tolerate all the faults with this car when it is clearly an earlier model that has been sitting around for a couple of years? She paid full price up front! Which, in a way, was a shame....Genie

I agree. If she buys parts in a few years time, they will say what year? When they say 2010, the parts may not be the same as a 2008 model. A few months is one thing but 18 months is another. Also it could have been outside in the rain for that time. I definitely would demand my money back or a New car. Don't let it drag on more than a few more days though.Nice to save.0 -
i posted a reply here but its vanished probably posted it in the wrong place or something anyway i will re write my reply.
i have posted here and the Toyota forum and i am surprised that some people think its ok that my car has been sat somewhere for 14 months , that cant be good for the car anyway and im sure you wouldnt be happy if that was your car.
I got a 2008 car for 2010 price,
when i ordered the car i specifically asked for a brand new car because im well aware of the many cars sat around waiting and i did not want one of those, they knew this when i ordered it and bear in mind we asked numerous times for the build date,
The faults im having i can find people with the same problems on the original cars not new cars
another problem that i forgot to mention is the mpg read out goes to 60 maximum. under warranty this can be fixed to read 99.9 but that means the odometer going back to 0 and a note in your log book made, i dont want this and i shouldn't have to do this either if i had the new car i ordered
It also appears that problems like this are dealt with the dealership first they have the power to sort things out but Rmb dont want to know and told me to get in touch with Toyota GB, when i tried to tell him the faults i have found he didnt want to know.
so lets say Totota decide to give me the new car i wanted, where am i going to get it serviced ? im embarrased with the way the garage have treat me i dont trust them so i dont want anything to do with them,
The local 3 dealerships are all owned by the same group so that means a very long journey to find a neutral dealership, is that acceptable ?
What if Toyata say tough 14 months standing is normal just get the faults sorted where do i go and what do i say in the future if i want to re-sell this car or what if as somebody pointed out i cant get things fixed in the future.
If they let me have a re-fund what about my Daewoo, im left with no car and no chance of scrappage, i have to sort out the insurance, return to invoice insurance ect, not taking into account the inconvenience and tears shed
Roll on monday when i can start making calls and get legal advice,
im not taking this lying down im taking it all the way watch out for me on watchdog
if i dont get satisfaction
I havnt decided what that satisfaction is yet but im pretty sure its not me being a customer of Toyota for the near future. my love for that car has been ripped from me0 -
OP - - don't panic! Read the posts above and try and take some advice from across the board.
Re servicing - find an independent, you do not have to go back to the dealership. Block exemption etc.Genie
