Yes Milton is exactly the same substance (Sodium Hypochlorite) as thin bleach but more dilute and more expensive! :rolleyes:student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -
Jay-Jay, (are we related?)

I just use the green side of a scouring sponge - works ok.
I have a real problem getting my plastic microwave steamer pot clean though - if I cook anything with tomatoes etc it stains red. Soaking in bleach seems to be the only thing that works.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -
I tried it and it worked really well. A couple of drops of bleach (I use thick supermarket own brand) and a couple of drops of washing up liquid (whatever one is on offer - I have tesco's anti-bac at the moment) with lots of hot water.
I did several mugs and they came up really well within about 1/2 hour. I also did a casserole dish (an experiment gone wrong!) and that worked OK, but the stain was different and didn't move in quite the same way.
thanks to all those who posted suggestions.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

Re the casserole dish - have you tried putting household ammonia in dish then covering it or putting it in bin bag outside? The stuff stinks and has to be kept away from kids and pets but works on almost anything! If you want it to stick to sides of dish use kitchen towel and then wet it with a spray solution of this !
If stuff is really crusted on leave it for several hours or overnight."This site is addictive!"

will try this - thanks elona. It's now just a stain, not an actually crust! and with teh amount of stuff I have tried the thing can't possibly have a germ in sight by now. I think I am just hankering after it's original good looks!!!
will give it a try.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
I'm sure everyone will have had a Lemsip in the past. Have you never noticed how clean your mug is after? I don't drink lemsip just for the sake of it, but I would recommend that if you did have a cold and you were going to have a lemsip, that you use your 'dirty' mug. You'll be amazed at the result. You don't have to leave it overnight either. Just drink up.0
