This thread is great!!
My venue want a minimum of 90% of our guests catered for in the evening. I was thinking that maybe if we have 110 guests, I'd say we only had 100, and cater for 90 to get around it. We won't be anywhere near their capacity, so shouldn't pose a problem with fire regulations and all that..
We're having fewer people for the wedding breakfast, and I can't see that staff will go around counting our guests. Hopefully it will go undetected, we'll have less waste, and a lovely day!!Swagbucks Amazon gift vouchers 2014 125/250

Laura I don't have a problem with you, I explained that sometimes I read 'some' (not all!) of your posts and they seem a little blunt and rude (for example the seed favours, this one and the registry office one you changed).
Like I said, it's just the way you come across sometimes, but also I said it might just be me, so just ignore me!
Got a lot going on at the mo and I'm stressed to bits.

Sounds like a good plan, and will cover the few who leave early and/or arrive late! As venue would be able to keep tabs on those

Im not sure what our venue's policy is on catering numbers, but its £25pp for reception meal and £4.95pp for the evening do food. (pie & peas!)
Our last venue said that for 100people they would cater for 80.
I did go to one place when we were looking for a venue (the place we got engaged at) and they would only let you have your night do there if you booked out all the hotel rooms (18 @ £110 each) and had a minimum of 125 guests, the buffet cost £25pp.
I can understand their policies - they dont want to lose revenue by having a wedding. They undoubtedly would otherwise, as they have around 150 covers on a saturday night in the restaurant and it isnt cheap for a meal there, and i guess people wouldnt want to stay in the hotel if there was a wedding going on downstairs. Still it put us off. No way i was spending that amount on a buffet!!:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
'ello all..... my venue has told us that they recommend only catering for 50% of the evening guests (we are having about 70 to daytime and then only about 30 more to the evening) which i thought was pretty low!!! I thought 75% sounds better to me...but then they do ALOT of weddings there... so they should know better than me... but still not totally sure LOL!

edited to say - our buffet is costing £12.95 a headBaldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0
