Most information I have read says cater for 85-90% of people in the eveing buffett. Some venues as you have all discovered set a minimum that you have to cater for.0

we were advised to cater for 75% of our evening guests0

We have 40 in the day and approx. 80 in the evening. We get a buffet for 60 as part of our deal, and the venue have said that will be sufficient, so that is 75% of the expected numbers.0

I was thinking of having a hog roast one with a pig and another with a lamb each caters for 100 people so thats 200 we're not inviting no where near that 100 max so thats atleast 2 per person.

We've got 30 for the day, but we won't finishing eating until about 6.30pm, and have 90 in the evening so have catered for 60 for the 8.30pm buffet! (its only two minutes to the maccy d's here too LOL):rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

franny we are not getting married till 3pm and we are not sitting down for our meal till 6pm, so the meal wont be finished till about 7.30. we were having the buffet at 9.30 - or 10 ish.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

There's no minimum we have to cater for, but I thought the venue were just trying it on to get more money out of us.
 We're having mixed sandwiches
 Potato wedges with dips
 Cheese and bacon potato skins
 Quiche
 Thai chicken skewers
 Indian favourites
 Chinese spring rolls with dip
 Garlic bread
 Onion rings
 Coleslaw
 Pasta salad
Its mainly all hot food, and it's getting served at 9 so I hope it all gets eaten!
Another thing was, that they will only allow the food to be out for 2 hours, then it gets taken away, so anything that's not eaten gets binned ~ that's not fair is it?!
And I thought it was 3 hours with hot food being out, not 2??Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

I'm not sure what the laws are but alot of places will make their own rules up because if someone gets ill (whether from the food or not) it damages their reputation.Bump due 22nd September0

We had 70 coming to the day and night and are catering for 70 day and nigt?
Should i tell the venue to cater for 49 people instead!!!
Were having the same guests for the day and night time.
16 of these are under 12 and we have a sweetie buffet which i think the kids will be more interested in after their big meal.
I'd maybe cater for a little less, but it's really upto you and I suppose depends on what food you are having xlaura.1984 wrote: »We are having between 175 - 200 guests and we are catering for 10% over
Can I ask why you are catering for more than the number you are inviting, as I'm guessing not every single person you invite will be able to make it.princesswoo wrote: »franny we are not getting married till 3pm and we are not sitting down for our meal till 6pm, so the meal wont be finished till about 7.30. we were having the buffet at 9.30 - or 10 ish.
We're getting married at 3pm, having our meal from 4-6, and the evening buffet at 9.
I'd rather there was more, than not enough, but I hate waste! I suppose if I know that they are going to clear the food away, I can plate some up and say we haven't finished?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

Its health and safety, 2 hours is the maximum that any food is allowed to be out when it is hot.
Usually what they do is put half of it out and top it up as things get eaten.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
