Sense of humour is what gets you through eh?!0

Don't know about getting through, it's dropped me in it more often than I care to remember.0

Sorry, I thought you weren't really up for finding a lodger because of the kids. If you've looked after the place and been a good tenant for some time then you might find that the LL is happier for you to get a lodger and pay the rent than risk a void while finding a new tenant - at least then you're legally liable for the standing charges and council tax etc. They will probably insist that they are named on the tenancy agreement.
And if you haven't made a payment towards the council tax please make one as a matter of urgency because that's a priority debt which will be pursued.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

I know what you mean, but that's why if I could find a lodger through a friend of a friend kind of thing, I would feel more comfortable with us all in the house together. The children would never of course be left with the lodger on their own.
Re council tax, I'm rather embarrassed to say it's covered as part of the housing benefit/LHA payments. This is why I want to be able to stand on my own two feet again as soon as poss.0 -
Have a look on Gumtree it might even be possible to find a lodger that would only want week nights etc. If my house wasn't so open plan, I would've considered that as an option.
Have you looked at payplan.com? I'm considering doing this for my debts, you pay them so much every month and they pay the people you owe I think.Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0 -

Please don't waste time on being embarrassed, the purpose of our social security system is to provide social security for those who find themselves financially 'embarrassed'. (But TBH I know exactly how you feel having previously been a high earner and now entirely dependent on benefits.)Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan
