Can't believe it! After emailing Betterware and having no reply - tonight someone has put a betterware brochure through my door!! Bang goes that one then, not had a betterware here for ages and now that I want to do it someone else has pipped me to the post! Grrrr!
Thought you'd found 'the direct route'.... Keri.s was having a problem getting a reply from Betterware so I referred her and she heard back within days.
PM me with your details if you're still interested and we'll see if it was a fluke!Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

PM MarsdenCuckoo, she can probably get someone to come and see you soon.
and with betterware, I believe and maybe wrong, that you are free to go anywhere? Not limited territory like avon.
No, they do the territory thing too, aureol. It's just that in our town I was the only person doing it at one point. We now have a few of us so we all have our own areas. With Betterware though some people will re-order every time so that does 'cloud' the boundaries a little until the territories have been established for a while (I keep getting phone calls now saying someone is trying to 'poach' my areabut I can't cover the whole town!)
Got to say though that I think I'm going to adopt a different delivery system for Avon i.e. more in line with Betterware. Yesterday was my Avon delivery day and it took me 10hrs (and I still have some stragglers to sort) - Betterware system is to drop a book in with a note saying the order's ready and will be delivered the following day in a certain 2 hr slot (and asking to be contacted if that's not convenient). Did doubt it initially as I thought it was an extra trip but it does make it quicker (not only do they usually have their money ready but a good percentage give you re-orders too :T)

Quick question - do you all knock on the door every time you take brochures out? I was thinking of including a little note with the brochures introducing myself, saying I hope they enjoy looking through the brochure and telling them when I'll be returning for the brochure. I know I write that on the order form but thought a little introduction would help. That way those who aren't in will know who I am and it makes it a bit more personal. Is that a good idea?Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

Hi pinkpig
I never knocked on doors, was too shy when I first started, MC did though, it worked for her, as this way she didn't lose books.
The intro is a good idea, I never did it, I just put the books through with the order form. I was doing it my way for a while until i discovered this forum and its great tips and ideas and now do it sooooooo differently.0 -
I was a little worried about it as I'm shy too, and don't want someone to think I'm forcing them into looking/buying. I personally am very wary when someone knocks on my door trying to sell me something! I might knock on a few first to see what sort of reaction I get.

Hi pinkpig, I am an Avon newbie, and I enclosed an intro letter with my brochures. I did a google search and found one on the web, and tweaked it a bit as it was very American. I also offered a discount on first orders to entice people in. I was far too scared to knock on doors though, but have managed to get all of my books back. Hope this helps - i can send you a copy of my letter if you'd like xxx0

Any Avon Lady who just shoves a book through my door will not get an order, no matter how nice her little notes are.
Its all well and good having hints and tips to pass around however you also need customer feedback.
I would buy £25 every time from the lady who can be bothered to say "Hello, my name is **** and I am your Avon Lady. I will try to answer as many of your queries and questions as I can" etc. What is so hard about that?
A book through the door says to me, "She can't be bothered with who's ordering. She just wants the order. Money minded doesn't give the best service"0 -
Thank you for your feedback Aputsiaq.
It is good to get feedback from potential customers.
In the area where I live, most people work during day or the ones who are retired, don't want to see an Avon book. So those I have spoken to and said no thank you, not a problem. They don't get books again, except once a year when I recanvass everyone, the ones who don't answer their door, get a book posted through.
And sometimes people are too busy to come to the door, like the time I was bathing DS and BT were knocking and ringing the bell and trying to get me to the door to talk to them, even though I told them DS was in the bath and I wasn't coming downstairs. I shouted from the bathroom and they could hear me as I could hear them.
But it is nice to talk to people and your customers, which is why I enjoy Avon. Even when I did expired book drops, I talked to a few people, who weren't interested, but a nice chat.0 -
Ok I've drafted a note for the people who aren't in when I call round. My intention is to knock first, then put the book and note through if they're out. Would you mind if I PM'd it you to see what you think, Aureol?Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0
