I never got taught to park in car parks - as a result my parking is somewhat interesting to say the least!

I can vouch for that! I'm fine in car parks, and was brill at parallel parking when I was learning but our street is really narrow so I have to park half on the pavement - I'm fine at doing this forwards or in reverse, but when I have to park alongside the pavement now I don't know what my reference points are and either end up in the middle of the road or scraping up against the kerb :o

He is! Poor Bluey, odd knocking sound, no horn, no windscreen squirters, only two wheel trims, bits of spring falling out the bottom ... He's done his time though bless him, 15 years old and 115000 miles, I think he'll be glad of a rest.

Been looking on a few sites and seen a couple of possibles which OH and I are going to look at on Saturday - hopefully they won't all be rusted up like the one I liked last weekend, keep your fingers crossed for me because I'm actually worried Bluey's going to blow up. I went home on an A road last night and didn't dare go over 45 mph :o At least I'm in a Micra though so everyone will just think I'm a granny :D

I wasn't taught how to park in car parks either, I remember one very stressful day trying to reverse into a space in Tesco's car park and in the end my Mum had to do it! That put me off for years! It was only when we moved a few years ago and I had to reverse into my parking spot every day that I actually learned how to do it properly!

It's nice that you're enjoying full time work (and a full time wage!), like Tete, I'ld happily swap with you!

    ETA: Poor Bluey!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

I'm better at driving into them and then reversing out. Only, they won't let you do that when you're learning because it's not 'eco driving' Pfft. Anywho, the Driver-man is spending more of my lesson time in car parks randomly parking so I'll learn. If I don't the hour lesson I have before my driving test I'll spend just reverse parking!

Sounds like Bluey has served you pretty well! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :D When I was getting Greg I kept thinking 'Or... I could get a Micra!!' they are pretty cute! (The old shape anyways)

They are, I think they have loads of character :) I've only done about 25000 of those miles BTW!!

How is that not eco driving? Surely you're doing the same amount of going forward and reversing, just in a different order?!

That's interesting, not sure why it's 'eco' though. But I do think it makes more sense to reverse in and I'm much better at reversing into spaces than parallel parking. I think it's because my last car was the longest car in the world and now everything else is easy!

Oh poor Bluey! I hope you find a suitable replacement soon. One of my friends has a canary yellow micra and it just puts a smile on your face :D

I'm intrigued by what your car was Poddle!

I'm not keen on yellow Micras solely because there's one in my work car park which has every academic year's parking permit in the window from about 2002 which is just stupid, so I think yellow Micra drivers are idiots! Haha! I'm looking darker ones this time actually, current one is light blue, but looking at dark blues and purples, and the dark grey and ideally black... Fingers crossed that I can get something on Saturday though seriously!

If you have a black car you have to like washing it - they're a pain in the neck to keep clean - and all the little stone chip marks on the bonnet makes it look like it has pox! Plus whenever someone knocks it with a supermarket trolley it looks a right state - we get through a lot of paintsticks! That said, I still like it :D

I always drive in and reverse out, much easier! Anyway if you have been shopping you need to have your boot at the back so you can put all your shopping into it. Something men seem to forget when parking in Supermarkets!

Yes Wendz, I've done that 'finding two parking spaces and driving through so it looks like I've reversed in' before and then couldn't get at the boot with my trolley!

I know Dinah, that's what Dad keeps banging on about, but I do think they look cute, like little puppies!
