Frustrating Ebay buyers

I need to sound off because this makes me so cross.
I've sold one or two things on ebay privately. On Sunday an auction ended for four of my items, two of which I was selling for others (my son and mum).
Why why why do people bid and then don't pay for days!!!!!!! One of the bidders even bid right at the last minute and still didn't pay. I have never ever done that.
My son is now getting cross as he's waiting for his money so he can buy a new phone. I'm not a business just a single mum trying to make ends meet.
If any ebay buyers are reading this and haven't paid - please please pay.

sorry - that may be so - but if you've bid for it (especially if it was at the last minute) and won it then pay for it straight away! Why the delay? and if you haven't got the money to pay - then don't bid!0
-
I sometimes bid when I don't have the money in the right account or when it's a couple of days until I'm paid, then I pay when it's sorted.
I do also normally ask the seller first but I don't see why you're so upset after just 2 days waiting... especially as it's going to take 2-3 days to clear through paypal into your account too. Perhaps you could jog the buyers along with an email to let them know you could post the next day if they pay this week? I sometimes do that- it often works too!If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -

If thye bid last minute then it was probably a sniper and they may not have been anywhere near the pC at the time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well I was brought up with the principle if you can't afford it you can't have it. It's my son who's waiting for the money this time. I'm not Barclays or Lloyds TSB. Think about the people selling - they could be desperate for the money - yes it may take two days to clear but if the buyer delays paying by two to three days - that delays it even further.
I post the items the same day as I'm paid - however inconvenient that may be to me - as I've promised to do that.
i once had someone bid about £10 for an item - not pay - then when I contacted them 3 to 4 days later they asked if they could pay in two weeks time if they had any money left afater their holiday!!!!!
It really puts me off selling on ebay. It's not fair.0 -
Toffee....they may well have paid. It can sometimes take Paypal a day or two to get the information to you about held payments. So if paypal have decided to hold you payment, you wont get it until you have posted the item off anyway.
Also, many people are not even at their computers when final bids come in. You can never tell.
It can also be a case of a buyer being in the middle of buying lots of items. A couple of weeks ago I was buying around 200 items over 2 days. Id bid and win, move on to the next part of my schedule and when it came to payment, I would pay in specific blocks. It was/is my method. You might not like or understand my method but thats how it is for many people.
As a seller, I sold an item on Thursday and he paid about 20 minutes ago.
The other thing to remember is that people have real lives to sort out and ebay isnt always top priority.0 -
Buyers aren't obliged to pay straight away.
I paid for an item a day after winning it the other day. I wouldn't leave it 2 days, but if I was selling, I wouldn't get irate after 2 days either.
Look on the bright side... son is getting a lesson about human nature
People forget things. People work to their timetable, not yours. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

"Can't afford it, can't have it?".....that doesn't make sense. Noone is asking you for credit are they? Noone has said to you that they need a loan to pay? And noone has said that they cant afford it either.
The guy asking to pay in 2 weeks was out of order though.0 -
I sold some things recently, everyone, bar one buyer paid within 3 days (most of them within 24 hours) - the one remaining bidder, I reminded on day 4. On day 7, with no contact from the buyer, I opened a NPB dispute. 3 days later, buyer pays - no message to apologise or anything....that is annoying...!
I wouldn't be worrying after 2 days!!Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -
Thanks Dizzie. I'm not worrying so much as just cross. Perhaps ebay isn't for me. I have sold a number of things privately and, to be fair, most people pay straight away, but this time i've been unlucky.
and to a previous post regarding ebay not being no. 1 priority - i don't get that - back to the same thing - buy it - pay for it. I am a single parent with two children - I know what my priorities are but if i've made a promise or a commitment then i stick to it0
