What should I ask George Osbourne

I would ask the question.
Do you agree that all of the three main parties will lie to the electorate because they all know that if they explained the pain that will have to be inflicted via tax rises and public service cuts they would lose votes?
Democracy. Dontcha just luv it?
The whole election will be one phoney campaign.
The reality will be what has to happen in the next five years and it's not going to be pretty - or mentioned during the election.
before his phd brown got an outstanding first class degree having been admitted to university at just 15 years old and also became the youngest ever rector of edinburgh university. far more impressive achievements than osborne's silver-spooned mediocre qualification.0 -

Fair question. but given previous form, who do you think will lie about cuts/tax rises the most?
To be fair to the Tories, at least they have broached the subject of the pain to come...and in doing so of course, lost a gazillion votes (because we are all apparently ridiculously stupid..) and no doubt 'done Britain down' to bootGo round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0 -

Talking of caps, perhaps to emphasise the point (in your usual forensic and detailed manner :rotfl:) you forgot to post in all caps.
I read what Martin said. So what. Other people want to discuss it in this thread so will I. I wanted to counterbalance the utter cretinism of Robin Banks post. If you do not like it then you do not have to stay in this thread.
Personally I am glad you have done. You bring your usual lack of thought to the proceedings.

Have you ever considered why you are such a !!!!!!?
I am pondering between it being the result of blunt trauma or a genetic defect. Not Again0 -

People tend to forget the actual meaning of 'Conservatism', i.e. we shall fight to keep things as they are, with power and wealth in our hands and fending off those upstarts from the Great Unwashed.
Labour has always had an agenda which was at least based on the principle of fairness and improvement of the condition of the majority.
No such claim of principle can be made for the Tories.
Before you cast your vote this year, just remember that. Eton and Harrow don't exactly go out of their way to take in your children...
So that's "for the many and not the few".
Tell me, how are you supposed to win elections unless you appeal to "the many". Or rather four elections in a row in the 80's -90's and more elections than Labour "the party of the working class" i.e the majority in the 20th Century, when the population was enfranchised with the vote, by a ratio of 2:1.
It was skilled manual workers, many of them union members, who put Margaret Thatcher in power.
It's just a sanctimonious cliche.0 -
if this country votes in labour again it derserves everything it gets. they have virtually destroyed us. yet the masses are considering sleepwalking into total destruction. why???? because ben elton used to have a go at maggie and the tories.
who cares if the tories are the nasty party (not that they are). they are the party that can run the country. its like asking if you would prefer you boss to be the boss, or your cardigan wearing nice pal. your boss may be a c**t but he gets the job done. The cardigan wearing pal might be a nice bloke but is an incompetent buffoon.
Labour are taking us back to the second world, apologising for the achievements of this once great country as they drag us down.
Do not sleep walk into the nightmare of Gordon and mad Hattie for 5 more years. in 2015 we will be the world's largets laughing stock as we take a wheelbarrow of pounds to buy a loaf of bread - but don't worry, the dole will be 3bn a week. only people that work will starve. that is the Labour way.
tax the middle class until they bleed and beg for mercy. afterall, why should someone on 50k actually get to keep any of that money. they are evil for daring to earn more than a manual labourer.
I hope they lose, and lose so big they never come back to haunt us.
Labour's idea of a future fair for all, is not fair opportuinity for all, its take from the haves to give to the have nots irrespective of why people have and have not. Its insanity. Its wrong. Its NuLiebor0 -
white_horse if you really want people to vote tory i suggest you come out in favour of labour because your style of argument is so off putting it would make the average blue rinser turn commie. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0

Ask him why doesn't he resign and actually make the Tories electable?0

i have no problem with privilege when those with privilege use it to help the less fortunate. hence my example with white people joining the anti-apartheid movement. it is not a fault to be born with more opportunity than the next person. but it is a fault to use that opportunity as a weapon of oppression against those who are more disadvantaged than you.
obsorne seeks to keep his position of privilege with the typical cut public spending reduce taxes of the wealthy tory. on the other hand harman has joined a party that seeks to create opportunity for all.
Eh?
Youth unemployment is higher now than in May 1997.
Public sector debt is way higher.
Benefit dependency is way higher.
The rich/poor divide gap is wider.
In what possible way is opportunity greater now?0 -
Well he has done it, Ossie reminds me of Dev
