What should I ask George Osbourne

I would like you to ask him what he is going to do to get people off welfare dependancy, which has esculated over the last decade to a level the country can no longer afford.
What is he going to do about making sure that welfare payments for children, are going to the children and not being spent on the parents? Stop paying tax credits to the parents and use the school kitchens to make sure these children are fed. 3 x 7 for the poorest? Vouchers for clothes instead of child benefit paid into parents accounts?
What is he going to do about the massive costs of the NHS? Should we be looking towards following the German model?RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

are you kidding? That's a huge percentage of oxford....
Hang on, that was somewhat forceful... do you have anything to admit to, LIR? Are you a secret oxbridge toff?“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I have lots to admit to, I'm just not sure any of it is relevant to this..:D I didn't go to Oxbridge, but DH did, and had very stong ties to Oxford. A lot of his social circle are Oxford left, a very strong contigent of Oxford is left, and their also seems to be a lot of discussion about whole foods (in fact there is a super whole foods cafe in Oxford too.). Its easier to hit a socialist with a thrown stone in oxford than it is to hit a toff IME. (though some might say Toffs are quicker thus dodge better)0 -

Did I hit a sore spot there;)
You should read the whole sentence next time. BTW, given that we are now onto the gross generalisation stage, has your OH "come-out" yet?:pA lot of his social circle are Oxford left, a very strong contigent of Oxford is left, and their also seems to be a lot of discussion about whole foods..
You mean the bourgeois socialists? Where would the Gruaniad be without them?In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

Hit a sore point, are you throwing stones? No, its ok you didn't! I did read the whole sentence...I think...
DH was Oxford left and is definitely into whole foods. As far as I know he has not yet come out0 -

You certainly don't come across as an Oxbridge type online. I had a mental picture of you boiling lentils and attending CND rallies whilst studying for your B.Ed somewhere less illustrious.
Whatever is a "Oxbridge type" ?"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."
Bertrand Russell. British author, mathematician, & philosopher (1872 - 1970)0 -
Whatever is a "Oxbridge type" ?
i don't think there is one. however there probably are 'types' within oxbridge.
no one is saying that going to oxbridge is a bad thing. some of the greatest minds have studied there. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
