Wow aarchk thanks sooooo much for that - will now have a look into the doing it myself thing. There was a lovely lady on here who showed us how to make those lovely gatefold type ones, where to buy the paper etc. Still have all the links somewhere so will look at that when I get home and try and think up some sort of design..... I am practical but not arty so should be fun :)

Hmmm how easy was Quark to learn as know what its for but never ever used it? How long does the trial last? Do you have an example of what you have managed to do in it?

    Sorry for all the questions.

Magicboo I second your bollards but hows about getting a cheap set of envelopes and printing them with the RSVP address and including them with the invites?? or a label with the address on just in there for them to use??

Quark is a 60 day free trial and is fairly easy to use - will have to register H2B for the next free triel for OOS... You can also use microsoft publisher. I am trained in Quark and used it many moons ago so found it easy to pick up. I used it because we had a complicated map and I didnt want to put a screenshot of googlemaps in the invites. sorry for some reason cant upload pics of invites.

I think you may find gatefold card (2 folds) will be more expensive, we just had simple one folded, but it should work out much cheaper than having them made for you. PDA card and craft are supposed to be good and if you sign up for the newsletter they sometimes have discounts.

I can recommend this ebay seller for ribbons, really lovely quality and fast delivery. Free P&P on orders over £10. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/beauxribbonsandlace.

margiboo - oh no! I think just doing an insert slip to go inside the invites will work. like an RSVP card but on paper and then people can pop it in an envelope and send back. failing that add address stickers on the reverse of the invites. I have had to do this anyhow as the invites are a tad bulky in their envleopes and am worrying they'll fall apart in the post.

Clever idea-I'll get onto vistaprint right now and see if I can get some free ones!
    Thank you!
  • Magicboo I would reccomend vistaprint too :D

Sooo.... off I went to Church yesterday. For those who dont know, as we are getting married out of parish I hd to attend a minimum of twice a month for 6 months to qualify to marry there.... Which was fine as I had alwas said that I didnt want a 'stranger' to marry us, I wanted a priest/Vicar that at least knew us by sight... anyhow.... I turn up at church on Sunday - first time since b4 xmas. Priest has left.... Yep. Left. Gone. Moved. Upped sticks.

And... church in 'administration' (they dont use that word, they use a 'churchy' word). Closes in 6 months. Although thats after the wedding its still not good. Urghhhhh!!

Hopefully this is it now, the 3 things... reception venue went into administration, then vicar leaves, now church closing.

Sad thing is that we will just get a 'random' vicar now, whoever is available :(. I was looking forward to ours as he was quite funny too.

Ah well, how is everone else going? Work has been so crazy for me ive barely had time for the forum or wedding planning. Although I did order my pink table crystals on sat. :j

MM2B Hellooo!! Haven't seen you for ages! Hope you're enjoying your new job? The problem with promotion is the work!!
That is PANTS about your bad luck, but as you say, hopefully you have had your 3 now. Could you ask them to give you a "shortlist" of Vicars and you could meet up with a couple of them? Only thinking because we have 3 Vicars who cover our Church and we can pick which one we want, although so far we've only met one!
On a happier note-H2B stopped the RSVP address panic by pointing out no, it wasn't on the wedding information, it's on the invite!! :embarasse you'd have thought after the hours I spent looking at and wording the thing, I'd have remembered that!!
  • I know, bloody responsibilities of new job!! Loving it but its very stressul, barely had a moment to even sit for a second the last 2 weeks, its very exciting though, and im getting my own office that is being built this week too!. Thanks for asking.

Yeah thats what we are gonna do hopefully. The church diocese were having a meeting at the weekend about the weddings so hopefully we will know more, if not ill ask for a shortlist. maybe I can then conduct x factor style auditions? Call it the Holy factor? Haha.

Oh no, silly magicboo, that my dear is 'wedding brain'! At least its on there after all! We are sending our day invites out the week! EEEK. x

Ok ladies (&gent :P) so do you recall me having dress wobblies when I have already got a sparkly one from the bay of E. Well they have just got 10 x worse as I have fallen in love. And its going to cost me. Have emailed Landy asking for their help.

The dress I have fallen for was on The Wedding House - Its Ian Stuart - Flora and its wonderful I adore it and would even consider surgery just to get in it (am size 16) I sooo help Landy can help for a decent price. Does ANYONE know of ANYONE else who could make this?????

    hheeellpppp

Bridal shops might have it in stock and be willing to sell it to you cheaper, I don't think many people actually buy Ian Stuart dresses because they are quite expensive (I got offered £1k off a £4k Ian Stuart dress because it was the sample). It might be worth ringing round shops that stock Ian Stuart to see if they have an ex sample?

I have been waiting for ribbon and parcel tags to arrive so we can finish our invitations..I found them last night on our boiler by the backdoor-postie had forgotten to tell us!! So tonight I shall hopefully be finishing them off and can post them in the next couple of weeks :)

    MM2B-Holy Factor-I love it! :rotfl:

MM2B - oh no that is really awful! At least the church is still OK until after the wedding but its a shame really. Fingers crossed nothing more goes wrong (I must have missed the venue going into administration as havent been on this forum long). Which diocese is it? I am Burghfield and the local Rev apparently covers other weddings (including those at our church). We have a venue near us that has a church which means non local couples can have a church wedding and this venue has tended to use our local vicars meaning the locals get fobbed off with a stand in. There were a few complaints and it has rectified itself now (venue has its own dedicated semi retired vicar) so we fortunately are getting the vicar from the parish we are marrying in to do our wedding but we were told that we might end up with our actual local vicar despite the fact we are getting married in the adjoining parish. its all too confusing. Holy factor sounds fun...

Anyhow have started handing out invites and people are saying how lovely they are. Rest are literally just about to go in the postbox outside my office (I forgot to put them in there on the way in...).

magiboo - hilarious about the RSVP! glad its sorted.

other news I order two pairs of shoes from debenhams when they had extra money off (pre VAT increase). Really nice shoes:

    http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_050010448485_-1?breadcrumb=Home~Women~Shoes+%26amp%3B+boots~High+heel+shoes

    and

only the git who delivered them didnt return them to the post office or leave them with a neighbour but instead threw them over my side gate resulting in a hole in the packaging and a muddy mark on the ivory coloured pair. These do not fit and I like the gold coloured pair more so need to return them. Am waiting for a response to my complaint email I sent last night.

Such a shame people dont use their common sense more! Anyway am happy shoe situation is sorted although I will be removing flower and adding a shoe clip with ribbon bow on (dont want the lace hem of my dress getting caught up on the diamante).
