  • Hi,

This is my first post, although I have been reading these forums for a ratehr long time. :rotfl:

I too am an April bride, I am all booked for 14th April which is a Thursday!! Odd I know but I will have been with my h2b for 4 years on that date.

Is anybody struggling with finding a veil? My dress is blush pink and my veil will need to be the same. A short veil at my bridal shop is £120 and £150 for a long. Way over budget for something that I will probably fling after the church.

Anybody have any advice at all?

Mrs Barnes to be, it may be worth having a look for a veil using some of the suggestions on this thread. Also try preloved, and ebay.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

  • Welcome csh and Mrs Barnes to be.

Mrs Barnes to be - Linda on here (Lindano9) has quoted me for making a veil and ill be going with her id imagine? Maybe worth PM'ing her? She is very competitively priced.

My update is that the venue although still in administration seems okay so im confident they will find a buyer if not still be running so we are getting ready to have invites printed! My uncle is doing them for free so we need to get them done while he has a window of time.

I tried my dress on again on saturday (my SIL2B was in there trying dresses on) and it was so nice as i'd had some wobbles but happy again now, It was everything I remembered and the people in the shop commented on how much weight I had lost as the sample in the shop id tried on fit so much better (by several inches) which made it look MUCH better, definately made the right decision waiting for them to take the measurements in Sept!

We are off looking at the shortlisted 3 BM dresses on Monday, hopefully will be able to make a decision as found thgem all in one shop so can compare side by side!

How are we all doing? It was 9 months to the day on Friday for me, sounds scary saying its less than 9 months now! xx

  • Thanks Mrs Morre to Be, I have sent her an email.

Can I ask how you have lost all your weight? I am having a terrible time trying to shift mine. I have been at the gym 5 x times a week and not lost anything!!

    Well I have the following booked and sorted;

    Church
    Venue
Dress was the first to be bought (it took me over a year and a half and some very horrid experiences to find it)
    Flowers
    Chair Cover and Centrepieces
    Hair and Make Up

    Still to go
    BM dresses
    Wedding shoes
    Veil
and the list goes on ha ha

What I am waiting on is the ruddy horse and carriage man!! there are two very steep hills just before the venue!! His suggestion was that if the horses can't make it, 6 x strapping men meet us at the bottom and help push!!! Oh yeah the big fat bride that gets pushed up the hill!!! And I don't think

How are you all getting on?

CSH, am being super nosey here as I am a fellow Scots Bride!

Who is it you have got to make your dress? I know exactly in my head what I want, but cannot afford the £2500 price tag that comes along with it! So am thinking about going down the custom route.

    thanks xxx

Hi  shes not actually local, I found her selling dresses on ebay then contacted her and emailed some pics of what I wanted.

I'm not having a tradional wedding dress either so not sure how much help I'd be.
My dress should be here in about 5 weeks, if the workmanship is good I could pass her details to you, but I wouldn't do that until I was sure she was good!

What about Linda on here? Although shes not exactly local either!

    Wheres your venue? (nosey!)

Having a major venue wobble and have been frantically emailing them all morning! (she starts early!)
Where we've booked there are 2 sets of rooms and we booked the on budget smaller ones but H2B has never been convinced that the space was big enough for the numbers they allowed.
We've decided to try and get the bigger ones but at an extra £1200 for the facility fee and an extra 18 day guests to make up minimum numbers at £40ish a pop its gonna hurt.

We are re-viewing at noon today to make a decision!!!!
