They do, however the standby/standbys may have already been used up by someone else calling in sick0

Just thought I would add my success story; my flight to prague on the 9th of July was cancelled (on the 5th) and i was forced to fly two days early.
I just called easyjet on: 01582700036 and had to wait in a queue for about 20 minutes, but i got my compensation without any disagreement from the advisor:j0 -
Wow thanks for this tip, i told my friend who had a cancellation 4 days prior to taking off, easyjet gave him 400 euros, and also for his 4 friends brilliant thanks a million!0

Hello,
I've just got compensation from EasyJet and the compensation rule is per sector.
So if the compensation is say Euros 200 per sector and you have a return flight then this will equate to Euros 400 compensation.0 -
We had our flight cancelled from Nice to Liverpool last Saturday and we were transferred to Gatwick and then on to Liverpool by bus arriving back a 4:45am, what a night mare as we had four very young children with us. Thankfully the kids were excellent but there were no refreshments available on the bus which I think was very poor service. Anyway I have just contacted them about compensation and they agreed we were entitled to compensation of 250 euros per person as we had not been informed of the cancellation prior to arriving at the airport but this did not include the infant that was traveling with us as they did not have a seat. On looking through the EU regulations I contacted a very nice lady at the AUC who informed me that this was not the case, if a fee had been paid then compensation was due to be paid. I still have to get the compensation off Easyjet for the infant but it pays not to take their word for it. I also enquired how they calculated the distance from Nice to Liverpool as they quoted that it was 1302km but if you measure the flight path it is greater than 1500km which would entitle you to 400 euros per person. The lady at the AUC confirmed that even though the flight path is indeed greater than 1500km the rule bases it on a curve method (I forget the exact term used) so Easyjet were correct (shame). So all in all I will be pleased with the outcome when I receive the money. I also have to point out that the Easyjet staff were very courteous through out.0

I have been waiting 3 months for a refund, thinking about taking court action. Have no idea where to start. Have been promised on 4 ocaasions that refund would be debited to my account0

All cheap flights should come with a health warning along these lines:
you're only paying 1p + tax so in the event that we cause you avoidable delay/lose your luggage/provide atrocious cust.service - shut up whingeing!
yes, yes! we know we enticed you with mouth-watering offers on our attractive website. we know we have t and c's that read like the magna carta. we know we charge you big time to complain via phone. we know (and maybe you don't) that you're paying the airport charges that we would suffer if you didn't fly with us. but guys, guys guys!!!!!!!!! What were you thinking of when you booked?? Think of it like this: I gotta cheap flight. it left on time. the staff were helpful and diligent. my luggage didn't go to moscow for 9 days! believe us: it did happen. a mrs. cholmendly-warner wrote to us only 5 years ago to tell us that everything went smoothly for her. result!! and if it doesn't? never mind. we know you'll be back....
seriously. the EU directive was drafted to put a stop to the more dodgy practices of euro airlines. truth is the skies look set to get busier in the next 20 years and the consumer needs a modicum of protection against cowboy operators. another £10 on the cost of a ticket? I'll pay, because it means europe will become more and more accessible to everyone, with a reduction in the !!!!!!ation factor.
tree-huggers need not apply.
as for ryanair: DON'T GET ME STARTED!!miladdo0 -
When BA and easyjet are neck and neck on price, I don't think these rules are going to push up prices

After getting 250 euros for a cancelled flight in September they have also agreed to pay my out of pocket expenses for being stranded. Not all of them though, they flat refuse to pay my £55 excess parking charge for staying over my time.0

Was wondering, has anyone had any experience of Ryanair compensating people??0
