It is not irrelevant. They have two big ears and a trunk.

How do you know they had no intentions of delivering on this promotion? Where is your evidence? Where is even your heresay? You are just ranting over not getting something for nothing. Where are your principals? Should we not try to be understanding, or at least, constructive. I am sure you have spent more time complaining than you did signing up and then cancelling. I would be surprised if you have emailed the head office and put forward your concerns? (if you have, it would be more useful to here their reponse).

Freebies are never free - they are marketing tools and they are worth it to the companies by a) promoting new products, and b) getting contact information. As far as I can see this promotion was badly handled, as was the Elasterplast one before it (Elasterplast Silver - offered trial samples and gave up and just said they would send a voucher for £1 off). Yes its reasonable to say this was messed up, but to start calling them liars and cheats, well its just over the top.

Does anyone know of any chill pill freebies for JaneDoe before she has a Coronary and ends up as a Jane Doe for real.

I was hoping for the bars as I could post them to foreign friends (Friends who live abroad, I mean)
Eggs are less easy to post so I am now forced to eat them myself

really irritating, fine they ran out and say you can get one from store instead, but giving just 2 days which aren't even a weekend to pick up the freebie...waste of time, rather they just hadn't sent anything

Stryder- this is a freebies forum. We WERE misled by Thorntons. If you want to continue being pompous, arrogant and sarcastic, I suggest you go elsewhere. Don't even attempt to belittle me and other ops. I don't give a s**t about your opinions on marketing, so zip it.

ps) I bet you never say no to freebies yourself. I can't stand hypocrites like you.

I personally view freebies and cashback as a bonus if they turn up. Yes it's disappointing to have spent a few minutes filling forms in etc only to get nothing but it's always a nice little surprise when they do turn up. In this instance, I do think thorntons have been bad sports by offering vouchers that have to be taken to one of their stores within 2 days as this time limit means many people will miss out.
I think it would have been better for them to simply email an apology and offer all those who missed out the option of their details being removed from the database. I think a bit of honesty and fair play would be appreciated more than an email equivalent of what will be carrot on a stick for many of the recipients.

Its amazing how many people are moaning about this.

Thorntans made a mistake, let too many people sign up for too little supply, THEY COULD HAVE JUST NOT SENT ANYTHING OR TOLD YOU TOUGH LUCK!

Be greatful that they sent you a voucher! no its not the same but its something!

I cant believe how many times ive applied for samples and freebies only to never hear back again!

I was going to stay out of this, but whilst I do know it's a freebies forum, no-one twisted my arm or threatened me with any injury to sign up here or on Thornton's; I was not manipulated in any way other than I love chocolate. No-one forces me to buy anything when I go into Thorntons and I have managed to pick up my freebies without being arm wrestled into buying anything else.

Thornton's have my details; well so do every other company I have applied to. Most of which have sent me nothing.

On a personal level I much prefer having the eggs to the bar of chocolate, and no, a Thornton's store is not near me. I usually go when I visit my daughter...otherwise I wouldn't bother. I lose sleep over many things; getting a piece of free chocolate is not one of them. If getting freebies is going to cause this much angst then I'd rather not bother. I have been misled by many people, not least my ex, so don't consider this on the same par. This is my opinion only.
