Had a lovely, proper old fashioned afternoon tea bought for me by the kids. The restaurant is in an old art deco building and the ambience was just wonderful! The tea was a good one - finger sandwiches with their crusts cut off, cakes, pastries, scones, cream and jam. Plus a choice of teas and some champagne for me

It was really, really nice - what was even better, I didn't have to pay for it!
:D
I haven't decided if I want/need dinner yet - I might just end up with cheese on toast!

DH and I went out this morning, didn't manage to do much but we did a little bit and saw some of our friends so that was good. I'm terribly tired and have a headache as a result. I think I must tense up my shoulders when I'm tired as my neck is as stiff as a board and really painful. Feel like I could sleep for a week!
I've managed to do a little tidying on the LR floor and completely cleared out the top drawer of my chest of drawers last night. Need to do some washing up, I think I will do that when DH is watching Ant and Dec.
Rach you've done so well to help all these people and inspire them to do good things with their life, that's really fab!Been MIA most of the week I think. Started my new course after work on Wed, it was good actually, though tiring straight after work, and I was out last night at the 21st of a girl who used to be in the youth groups I ran...she's now a youthworker herself which I'm proud of. In fact 5 of the old group were there, one is now a primary school teacher, 2 are youth/children's church workers, another who is a bit younger is at uni and one guy who has set up his own business doing conference techie stuff (he said that's all down to me encouraging him to do sound and projection at church when he was 14!). It was lovely to see them, and my good friends who are parents to my godson were also there.
I've given up trying to understand bulbs and all the ends and wattages and all that. It's too complicated! Stupid thingsCraftyscholar wrote: »Round of applause please - the bulb in the study went and I couldn't get it out of the holder. So had to get a new bulb holder. Well I've just fitted it and it works. :T
However has anyone tried to put in an energy-saving bulb and found it is too long for the existing shade?
When I was a girl all bulbs were the same size whatever the wattage (and don't get me started on the different types of 'ends')
Love and hugs to Lady Liberty, Diva, Ishtar and Vanilla
Fedup have a lovely holiday
Toots I hope next week goes well

Evening everyone
Diva (((hugs))) its understandable that you got emotional honey - there was a lot of pent up worry/stress/ heartache there - I will be hoping with all my might that you get a positive outcome.
BenW/Ruth I am sure you wont feel very much like celebrating your birthday today but your Mum would be expecting you to carry on - hope you have a relaxing day with nice memories (((hugs)))
sexy this next observation is a piece of cake - you know you are leaving so you dont have to worry about the nasty head - just go in and do what you normally do - good teaching!!!!! as for the unco-operative colleague - again you do your bit and tell her that its up to her to get yto grips with it and make sure its not left until the last couple of days - you want to be chilled when you leave knowing that its all done.
vanilla oooooooooooh I love flinging - it does wonders for us!!! hope you have had a better day hon xx ETA well done getting the rooms swapped over and all the flinging and sorting - you will be tired but its very satisfying now to see what you have achieved and I hope it makes it easier for to keep things under control
rach sounds like a lovely time and you should be very proud of your former 'pupils' - sounds like they have turned into nice adults. Enjoy your week off and catching up on things xx

MrsChaos yes it is probably a bit of both thats getting you - hope you have sorted things with DS and you havent overdone it too much today - you need to give your body a chance to recover.
Ishtar I hope you are ALL feeling a bit better now - a good night's sleep to everyone - and no more infection vibes as well (((hugs)))
Aunty well done on the DIY electricals! you can now get smaller longlife bulbs - I know they are a pain though!

Have just got up, after retiring to bed at around 1pm as I wasn't feeling well (tummy ache and felt shattered). I got up early this morning and meal-planned for the week, then went into town and paid in a cheque from school (reimbursement for science equipment I bought) before going to Starbucks for their taste test of their new instant coffee. I did manage to correctly identify which was the instant and which was the filter coffee, but I actually preferred the instant so I bought some (with a £1 off voucher). You got a free tall drink too, so I had a latte with caramel and hazelnut syrup in it, to create a toffee-nut latte equivalent (they'd sold the last one of these this week), and it was really nice. Of course, I had to have the obligatory weekend fruit toast too!
Then I went to the market and got fruit before doing the food shop. It was manic in the supermarkets today because of mother's day tomorrow, but I did buy a nice new stainless steel pedal bin for the bathroom to replace the rusty chrome one I have at the moment.
We're going round to dinner at my M&D's tomorrow evening, so will give my Mum her card then.
Well I'd better get on and do the dinner so that we can eat soon. I'm not really very hungry still, as I've still got tummy ache, but should really eat something, and poor OH must be hungry by now too. We're having salad, jacket potato and kievs, so nothing too heavy.
Not sure when you go into hospital toots, so just in case I miss you tomorrow, I hope it all goes well. Will be thinking of you.
Hello LadyL - hope you've had a better day today than Friday was. Thinking of you as always.
