Firstly, I have made the pad of 9.53 (6.03 to my cc and 3.50 to the next one) and the statement came out today so hopefully I have paid it quick enough to get away interest-free.

Secondly, Euro - hope you are feeling ok now after the dentist. Did you enjoy your weekend in Germany?

Thirdly, COMP ITS YOUR WEDDING!!!!!!!! Doesn't matter how much or how little anything costs, as long as it's the way that YOU and your OH want it, f*** everyone else. One of my best friends is getting married at the end of the year, and I actually heard her MIL tell her she had to invite so-and-so because if their kids got married they would be invited. I'm so glad I don't have a relationship with most of my family, means I don't have to answer anyone about any decisions I make. Just try to keep it in perspective, the day is about you and your OH making the commitment of your lives, you love each other and that is all that matters. I know it's hard, but it will be worth it when you come to the end of your perfect day and you are Mrs Comp.

Right thats me off my high horse. Hope everyne has had a good day x

Thanks everyone... all OH keeps saying is that his parents aren't being malicious and they only want what's best for us. Well surely we are best placed to know what is best for us :p

I've bitten my tongue for so long, the next time either of them make a sly comment, I'm not going to listen. My strategy as of today is to not tell them anything.

Thing is, to all intents and purposes the wedding will look relatively expensive, but we're scrimping on everything so it will look like it cost twice as much. So we might have made them think we can afford extravagance!

Now why have I got this mental image of you dancing up and down with your fingers in your ears going "La-la-la-la" very loudly?
I can just picture you saying "I do" with your in laws muttering "She was supposed to say 'I will' ".
You know, it's a funny thing but the major relationships I've had have all been with women who had nothing or little to do with their parents - the same as me really. I was pretty much disowned at 16 (for leaving their nutty religious cult) so I then decided to do something to deserve being disowned. That soon shut them up.
It's as if I unconsiously decided early in my life that parents and in-laws weren't worth the hassle.
I really feel that you need to stand your ground and say your piece to your in-laws. It can be done more powerfully if it is done politely but the longer the resentment builds up, the harder it will feel to be polite.

    Hi all

for what its worth, I agree with all the above. IT'S YOUR WEDDING! It's about you and your OH, and so long as the day is what you want and within YOUR budget it shouldn't matter. Don't let it come between the two of you though, you have already agreed what you want.

euro - ouch - I can sympathise with the pain, but not the experience as I am so dental phobic that I have only been to the dentist 3 times since I was 16 - you can do the adding up yourself!

paul- why do I get the feeling that there's a really interesting story somewhere just waiting to be told.

    Hi everyone!

I'm going to be hugely pathetic and pad 2p for today... I'm doing my best to eke out this month as much as I can - usually I would have just gone straight into my overdraft and sod it but I want to hold off on that for as long as possible - I will need to use it eventually for petrol but thats all I'm going to use it for as it's kind of essential.

I will also need to put a bit of money towards a new iron - mine went mental the other day and decided to get really, really hot, burn through a t-shirt (an old one, luckily) and then die altogether. But I have seen this one at tesco - under £4! And it's got good reviews, what do you reckon? There are a couple of others for under a tenner too, might have to have a feel and see how smooth the plate is. Or theres a Russell Hobbs one on at half price... my life is exciting, honest...

And in other news, I shall report that annoyingly, I'm 10p away from a £40 payout on one of my survey sites :rotfl:

Hugs to those who need them - COMP, I would agree with everyone else. Turn a blind eye and ear and smile sweetly at their comments whilst disregarding them.

Have a good evening all xx
Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it... :o

My iron has been acting up for a while, and its something I resent spending money on, so I would go for the cheapest option. My Mum on the other hand, who LOVES ironing, thinks its worth paying out for a good one.

    Exciting stuff:D

COMP - I totally sympathise. My 1st wedding - my parents paid for MOST of it and dictated EVERYTHING - it didn't feel like my day at all - it was as if I was watching it happen to someone else. 2nd time around we did it all ourselves on a very tight budget, the invitations etc we wanted would have been over £600 so we made our own version for about £50:T. I thought I could only afford 1 bridesmaid (DD) but found a bridal shop clearance on Ebay and 5 dresses in the sizes and colour i wanted for the price of one so my neices all got to be bridesmaids after all:j. It was the perfect day - truely magical and I got a huge shock when the cheque for the cake was returned - my disapproving parents had paid for it!!!:eek: I guess what I am saying is it doesn't matter what it costs or what anyone else thinks - make it your own magical day.;)

Oh and a PAD of £4 to the £2 xmas savings please Sashy.
