I read a thing online while searching for JugIt and there was even talk of having a milk dispenser in supermarkets to do away with waste from packaging.

I believe that is taking it too far lol

Might work for coffee or pasta or something tho.

I been using the jug and milk bags for just over a week and they are FAB!
I've had no spills or leaks.

Only downside is that its only 2 pints...... if, like us, you get through a lot of milk you need a big fridge to store all the bags!

waitrose have been doing this for ages lol got loads of juggits when they were giving them free last year

Waitrose in the last few weeks have pulled the plug on this system....a notice said that there had been a lack of interest in the sales of milk in bags ....it had been running since well before Christmas
  • They had the jugs in our local Tesco on Friday, so presumably they'll start selling the bags too..... My concern is how long the milk will last once it's poured into the jug (since the jug won't be sterile?) - am sure milk will last much longer bottles supplied in, albeit not so environmentally sound.

Not tried it out yet but from what I see on instructions, you don't pour the milk out into the jug, the bag gets pierced and sealed and the bag sits dry inside the jug.

You don't pour the milk in to the jug. you place the bag in the jug.

We haven't got a Sainsburys near us.
but milk in a bag seems a good idea.
What will they think of next, your local pub
selling soup in a basket for lunch.

Maybe a design like this would be easier?

I wonder if it's really worth swapping a recyclable bottle for a non-recyclable bag.

In Colombia, South America and most of that region. These bags are a way of life. Its ALWAYS been this way and holes just need to be cut on a corner. In a jug and its ready to go. If your funny about having it open, in the fridge, then close the corner with a relevant peg type mechanish.

Should start kicking in, seeing as the savings on packaging should/could be going down to consumers as a saving.
