Can I join too? I'm 59 and have been on a DMP with CCCS. It's my debt- my OH doesn't know how much I owe or how long I'll be paying it off. He is retired and solvent so my life isn't too bad.

We are a friendly bunch, and hopefully we can help each other along the way. Any tips, advise, or even just nice friendly banter is welcome.:T Just pop in anytime and have a cup of coffee.:coffee:

Can I join too please..............?? I'm 59 this year and OH is 62, with less than 3 years to retirement and me with 6. Hopefully DMP will be paid before I finish so I can retire with some of my pension. Both of us work full time and the debts were all down to me. It was the hardest thing in the world to tell him about the mess I'd got us into. But I'm glad I did, he went ballistic at first but is now okay! None of the rest of the family know - too embarrassed.

My, my, we are busy tonight......the more the merrier Nanny.:T You are are our10th member, so welcome to you. There are a few more of us who havn't told any of our families, we would also be too embarrassed. :o:o Especially, as we always remind our kids to pay things off, and not to get into debt. That's easier said than done when you have a family to care for.:(

When did you start your DMP?

:)I do work Elsie thats one reason my son cant he adores his boys and wont leave them with a minder, only me. When we got into our debt it was doing the home up, the garden, all the things we normally do except then it was no prob to pay back, on time every month no probs. Suddenly oh, no work or very little work , same going out less coming in.Plus helping my georgous family.

Sorry nanna......my mistake, it's an age thing.....not readin things properly.!!

I see what you mean now, that was the start of our problems, I had to take part time work with a big reduction in salary......same outgoings, but less coming in. Similar story to yourselves. We also help our kids out as much as we can, as parents you want to do things for them, but there is a limit. Still we won't always be in debt. One step at a time.!

Is work picking up for your hubby?

Well done on the Uni, and the new job to come. :T:TYou are an inspiration to any of us looking to better ourselves, or give ourselves a new challenge. Perhaps we should change the saying of Life begins at 40......to Life begins any time we like.!!:D (Well, as soon as we get rid of the debt)

My OH always says that if I got any takers......they would ask for change.:rotfl::rotfl:

Things will get better, and like you say, we have to laugh about things. What other option is there. Depressed should be another one of our banned words, along with Old and Useless.
