Can I join?? I'm not on an official DMP but have my own.

My forecast retirement date is May 2017 and my snowballed DF date is November 2013 which I hope to reduce.

I have an adult DD at college but living at home who has a part time job but cannot manage her money so is always borrowing!!!

We have no mortgage but have about £27K of other debt which we are trying really hard to reduce.

Would love to join if you'll have me?

I have enjoyed reading all the posts in this thread.

You are our number 11, and we comprise of 10 ladies and 1 gent, (thewad) if I am wrong I am sure someone will let me know.

We are a friendly lot, and we all have one thing in common ;- we want to be debt free before retirement:eek: (Whether we are all in possession of our own teeth, hair and faculties is another matter ) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Planning Ahead suggested we could do with a thread dedicated to older members, and seeing as I qualified I decided to set one going.

How are things going, I havn't popped into your diary for a while.:)

Hello everyone, I'm number 7. I'm 55 (how did that happen?!) and started my dmp on 1st dec 2009 with cccs. everything seems to be going ok apart from egg who are still adding interest and late charges and HFC Bank (GM Card) who ring weekly (different person each time) so have to repeat stuff again. My dmp is 6 years 7 months. I had hoped to retire at 60 but not sure if that's gonna happen now. still who knows? I'm certainly a lot less stressed (can't believe it took me so long to sort things out, but like a lot of you guys I was in denial about the whole thing for years)

We're all in the same boat, wishing we had thought about sorting it out sooner. Hindsight is fab................... Egg have been great with us, no problems at all, its strange how they react differently to each DMP, would it be a problem if they had a policy, do you think??

I wish I could retire at 60, I'm 54, DMP should be 9 yearsish, I will be working when I'm a really mad old bat with a zimmer and 10 pairs of specs...............

I think most of us have been in denial for most of the time, I used to have fleeting moments of panic, and then console myself by saying that we had loads of time to sort ourselves out.!! I didn't really know the full amount of our debt until I actually sat and added everything up. What a shocker......£74k.:eek::eek::eek: I still can't believe we let ourselves get into that situation. If the kids did that I would have read them the riot act.!!:mad:

The calls from your creditors should settle down, to be honest the only ones who ring now are Clydesdale and Marbles, but only every 6 months.......with the same question." Are you in a position to repay everything "? Like we would be on a DMP if we could repay them there and then.!
