    Thanks Bluebag.

Your suggestions and ideas are appreciated. We used to go camping when our kids were young, but I wouldn't dare suggest that to my OH now. He will go in a Caravan, which we have done over the past couple of years, but we also use Travelodge when they have the cheap offers on. It can make the difference between having a break or not.

Cuddles.....something will turn up for you eventually, its hard being away from family and friends. My OH was in the armed forces for 22 years and we spent most of that away from family, but I joined various clubs, and that helped, but when money is tight I realize its not always possible. Keep positive and something will turn up......meanwhile keep joining us for a chat.....and Churchrat is 50 onTuesday so we are having a virtual party, so see you then.
Ha Ha, I had to giggle you mentioning it to your OH:rotfl: I am in my fifties and still camping, but we have an electric fan heater now, none of that roughing it stuff and I only go in the warmer weather.(when we get some!!)
I just love it and can't ever imagine giving it up. Maybe one day I will be unable to get up from my air bed and that will be that! :o The kids would bust a gut laffin' tho'

Do you offer reduced rates for over 60's. I am thinking of enrolling my OH on one of your courses on handling and positioning the Aldi trolley correctly. He wouldn't be able to join until September when he will be in possession of his Bus Pass, 'cos we can't afford the bus fare at the moment. Distance leaning wouldn't be possible until he gets his new specs.....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Yes--I go as low as £19.90--will that help??

  • Hi Elsie and her new crew:beer:

I'm not eligible to join:( (first time I have been depressed at being 49 and being able to not be on a dmp;)).

I just wanted to pop in and wish you all the best with your new support group - long may it last (cos you may retire and pay off those debts eventually....but you will all be posting on here till well into your nineties.....:rotfl:)

Elsie is an amazing person who has quietly battled away at those debts for the last couple of years and she will inspire all of you. A fab person to have leading your group.

Anyway.....all the best to you all:beer:

Is it ok if I'm a male of the species?

Awww.....thanks PA for those kind words.:A I know you are not on a DMP, but you are clearing debts, so we will make an exception for you should you wish to join us.

I think you are right in saying that we will be here long after we have paid off our debts, perhaps our work is not done and we will be an inspiration to the younger members. OMG now I am sounding like I am ancient.

Men are more than welcome thewad....although you may just have to keep reminding us of the fact that you are a man.

Why is it that we seem to be mostly women on here? My OH doesn't deal with day to day running of the finances but I put that down to the fact that he was in the forces for so many years and wasn't around to do it. But when I was a child growing up, it seemed to be that the men dealt with the money and women were given housekeeping to manage on. I don't think my mother knew exactly how much my Dad brought home each week.

Are you single thewad, or do you deal with the finances on behalf of both of you?

Morning all,Its very cold up here in the north east, but the sun is shining!! Over the weekend I bought myself some seeds and have sown them ready for my greenhouse - arrives in about 2/3weeks. I decided I would buy one as fruit and veg are ridiculous prices so im hoping to recoup my outlay back within 1 year, and of course friend/rfamily will reap the benefits also.

Looking forward to this birthday party! It will give me a chance to wear something I bought years ago and still has the tags on. Made just over £200 on ebay over the weekend so must get some more things on. Im hoping to get rid of one debt end of May so very little helps.

    Have a great day all.
Look after the pennys and the pounds will look after themselves:money:
  • Morning All

Beautiful day here in Scotland, cold bit fabulouly sunny, loads of vitaminD flowing all around. Am working from home to-day so an excellent reason to have a NSD, might even list a few books to sell on Amazon and am going to check out some more cashback sites. Might do a bit of work as well...............
