I've seen an iron cleaner at Lakeland...let me just go and look. Yes, here it is. NOt sure if it's exactly what you need, but worth a look?

Thanks for that, it gives me an idea on what to look for, bit pricey tho, or is that the usual standard price and me being tight!! :rotfl:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Yikes! I am making a skirt and today got to the waistband, which needed iron-on interfacing. In the gloom of my dark bedroom I managed to put the interfacing on back to front - result = lots of sticky interfacing 'glue' stuck to bottom of iron! How can I clean this off???

...really stupid, I know. But I absent-mindedly ironed something I shouldn't have at a too high temperature, and there are now bits of clothes stuck to my iron.
Have turned it off to cool... How do I chip off the melted... well... looks like melted plastic now!
(Synthetic material) Without destroying the metal plate of the iron and rendering it permamently useless.

I've done this in the past. I got an old rag while the iron was still hot and ironed the rag so most of the melted stuff wipes off on the rag. Repeat on a clean bit of rag till the iron is usable again. It's best not to scrape the shiny bottom of the iron, it's surprising how easily they scratch.0
